Whenever someone asks me what's the best meal I've had on a vacation, I tell them Doc Crow's.

ousdahl, I'd ask to speak with 'the guy' you would be assisting. Is he a jerk? Does he want you on the ladder while he watches you work? Is he getting paid $70 while you are getting $20 (not that there is anything wrong with that). Do you have to listen to Fox radio? Is he only available when the sun is shining on the deck (i.e. hot)? Maybe he will hire you so that you only have one boss rather than two.
Make it a one-man job, use 'the man's' equipment, and take payment for the job rather than by the hour (IMO and if you are good at estimates).

Why would one trade Courd'alene for Seattle? Courd'alene is so damn pretty and comparatively less full of people and urbanity (I know thats not word but I typed it and I like it)

Coeur d’Alene is beautiful, no doubt.
