Yeah, they want to pass.
In their games against 2 scrub teams, though, they’re at 5+ yards per carry. We would rather see a lot of plays and possessions than them getting first downs and chewing clock.

I am really hoping that the KU run game can play well. We really need to try to control the ball and set up the team for short third down conversions. Another Heisman caliber performance from Daniels would go a long ways as well.

Our 3rd down% has to be like top 25 or better.
Re: Iowa State (-3.5) @ Kansas
Currently at 3rd in the nation. Iowa State is at #25 nearly 20% behind KU.

Damn. Against duke, toughest D we’ve seen, was like 5/10. A below average day for the KU juggernaut.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I have to say that at the duke game they brought the hoops team out at the first timeout for recognition, and the crowd response ranged from complete apathy to mild. Which, is kinda great.
Re: Iowa State (-3.5) @ Kansas
Watching ISU Baylor, Baylor destroyed them. It was 31-14 with 7 minutes left and ISU fumbled the ball for a touchback ala Missouri but were bailed out by the refs. Absolute garbage time points. Not awesome defense.

I'm changing my mind. Kansas 38 Iowa State 21.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 9:17 am It's all going to come down to if Iowa State's defense is legit enough to stop Kansas. If they are, Iowa State wins. If not, Kansas could win somewhat easily.
If Kansas gets to the 30 number, good chance that they win.
Keep in mind, a thing helping Iowa State's defensive numbers is that they played Iowa's offense. I think Kansas wins 35-28.
Last week Kansas lost the turnover battle. Extended 2 Duke TD drives with penalties on 3rd or 4th down and turned the ball over on downs at the 1.
KU should have won by 20 last week.
I really don't like Iowa State. Screw em

Off topic, but what are the big time assistant salaries out there?
Should Kotelnicki not be at $1m+ for 2023?
phog posters saying that will be a sticking point in keeping LL.

Re: Iowa State (-3.5) @ Kansas
If I remember right, Clemson paid Venables and the OC each like $2M last year. Elko at A&M was like $1.5M. Lanning the DC at Georgia last year was just over the $1M mark I believe.
Kotelnicki makes $500K now, I think. The previous coordinators under Miles were closer to the $750K range. I think $1M is sufficient for the coordinators, or at least just Kotelnicki, as well as bumping Leipold from his average of $2.75M over the life of the contract to at least $3M maybe close to $4M.
You look at Minnesota, Purdue and some other similar schools in CFB and their HC salaries are over $4M. Get Leipold to that.
The new Big 12 with likely much less TV money is going to hurt the balance sheets though for KU.

Re: Iowa State (-3.5) @ Kansas
Interesting note I read from Kellis Robinett with KC Star..
In 19 games where Iowa State and Matt Campbell are in a game that has a spread of 3.5 points or lower, the Cyclones are 3-16.
Yikes.
HAWKS

Re: Iowa State (-3.5) @ Kansas
ISU fans make it sound like the only reason they didn't win vs Baylor is the refs going against them. Shocking, I know.
Re: Iowa State (-3.5) @ Kansas
MOJO RISING!!!!!
We got this. If we take the lead from the get go don't see ISU able to hang

Ride the home crowd and lets Daniels do his thing. Defense gives up yards but makes stops when it has to.
I have the Hawks winning by 10.

Just put some money down on a KU winning margin by 13-18 points because why not!?
