it is, ill give you that. I just couldn't deal with the insane amount of people crammed into one fairly small area. You cant get anywhere in that area without planning a full day around it. I lived 45 miles NE of Seattle and it was great.....on weekends....if I stayed in my little rural area. Wanna go downtown? it takes a full day.....40 minute drive at 4:30am....minimum 2hr + drive to get home. It gets exhausting. For Federal Way to Everett is just a shitshow, always.Overlander wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 12:31 pm I like water and Mountains.
And, the almost criminal amount of money I am being paid.
Coeur d’Alene is beautiful, no doubt.
But Western Washington is pretty freaking beautiful too

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Totally random thread

A mean old lady I used to coach when I lived in Indy lived there. technically, I think she lived in Clinton, TN outside of Knoxville.

It's as much as I know about it. UT is located there, which means lots of people probably wear ugly orange clothing on a regular basis.
Re: Totally random thread
Been there once. Stayed by the giant golfball thing and hit the bar area. Seemed nice. Close to the Smokey Mountains. Avoid Pidgeon Forge. Rocky Top may be more annoying than Boomer Sooner.

thinking about applying for a job there
cost of living is awesome. Smoky Mountains and associated wildlife is a huge draw. <200K population is also a bonus

Nice, sounds like a good opportunity. I have driven through Knoxville on a road trip from Asheville, NC back to Omaha by way of Nashville and then StL. Beautiful country out there. I can definitely see the draw.KUTradition wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 2:25 pm thinking about applying for a job there

It's been awhile, but I was there for a couple of weeks for work with free evenings. Not a huge fan, might not be too bad for a night or two. There's a decent walkable downtown/entertainment/bars area, check that out.
Outside of that, I found it a little . . . southern rough, if you know what I mean. Not really my scene. Lexington is way better. Nature stuff isn't my thing, so can't help there.
Re: Totally random thread
I have to throw in with CNB, Southern rough is a good way to put it. Definitely visit before you accept anything.

Henry Knox retired in Maine on 500,000+ acres.

But, man, the east, particularly southeast cant compare with the natural wonders in Utah and within a days drive of Utah. A days drive from Salt Lake you can be in about any natural environment you want, in the middle of nothing, huge mountains, lakes, rivers....Utah is right in the middle of a lot of awesomeness. Salt Lake kinda sucks....but...yknow.
