not sure i agree with punishing the players here

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: next soccer question
If they couldn't go, it'd be 3 teams, 2 spots.
That opener v Wales would basically determine whether you moved on.

Re: next soccer question
Odd that Iran players were a part of the statement/dispute too. They’ve worked all their lives for it.

McKennie may be out for the World Cup with a leg injury.

#northernhemisphereproblems

Re: next soccer question
I'd argue it's very much southernhempisphereproblems because most the nation's, participating in the World Cup, best players play during the World Cup because of European professional schedules.
It's just because Qatar said they could manage to keep the World Cup during the summer, like it has been for its entire history, and then, despite the billions of dollars and thousands of lives spent to make that happen, they had to backtrack and say, oh yea, this isn't gonna work, it's too fucking hot here in July, let's make it in November and December, thanks FIFA for accepting our backdoor bribes that led to the firing of two FIFA execs, also no drinking, or public displays of affection, ESPECIALLY if you're gay. It's gonna be great everyone.

Lookin' great:
"The organisers of the World Cup in Qatar are paying groups of fans to travel to the tournament, saying they are asking them for positive comments on social media in return."
"...these supporters have had to sign a "code of conduct" urging them to post favourable comments about the tournament on social media and to report "any offensive, degrading or abusive comments" by others to the SC, preferably with screenshots."

Don't know if mentioned here too but France without Kante and Pogba too.

Re: next soccer question
Also, I think McKennie may only be out for opener against Wales.

Re: next soccer question
Yea.
Depends on his recovery time.
Regardless, point(s) in that Wales match is so key.
A tie v Wales to open would be a great result in my opinion.

So....
We play Wales 2 weeks from Monday. 1PM CST.
Kind of feels weird.

Re: next soccer question
I think everybody does. Nobody seems to have their full allotment of players. November-December World Cup is an awful idea.

I didn't feel this way initially (I was indifferent), but I do now. Just seems off. Not the same buzz/excitement.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:57 am I think everybody does. Nobody seems to have their full allotment of players. November-December World Cup is an awful idea.
Re: next soccer question
I can't imagine it's only Americans that feel this way with many of the popular football ( soccer ) leagues in the middle of action.
But with Americans, World Series will have just ended a few weeks ago. NFL is in full gear, moving to the final do or die games to make the playoffs. NBA is hot. CBB holiday tourneys and big non con matchups. And CFB bowl games.

Re: next soccer question
Soccer needs the BWW Chad's, but they are already busy in November/December.

Re: next soccer question
The thing I hate most about the timing is its interruption of the European club schedules. That sucks for both those leagues and the WC.
But, I do think people would be less pissed about the scheduling if it weren't for the many other legitimate reasons why it's problematic that Qatar is hosting--seems like there is something infuriating reported every day, as late as this morning. The timing of the just adds to the problems.

That said, I will admit that I am looking forward to holding my nose and watching WC and KU BB on Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Going to be great.

Re: next soccer question
ESPN ranks the WC kits. Winner is Mexico, which I agreed with right after adidas released them--the aways are so great. US is 28, pretty generous.
