i don’t deny any of that

i do agree with the general premise of that opinion piece, though, that brady (so far) seems to have squandered a “story book” ending (despite still putting up crazy passing yards)

the only thing that might make it more apparent is if he were to get knocked out by a serious injury
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I suppose.
He still lost last year.
If he wanted a perfect storybook ending, he should have retired the year previous, with a new team and new coach, after he and the officiating crew teamed up to beat the Chiefs and their 3rd string offensive line.

Not sure losing in the NFC championship is considered a story book ending to a player like Brady with multiple rings and undeniably one of the GOATs.

Bears might as well give away the entire team at this point. I'm actually not upset they got rid of Smith and Quinn (Quinn because he made too much money despite having 18.5 sacks last season and Smith because they couldn't figure out a new contract for him) but I am upset I feel they didn't get what they are/were worth.

I mean, Smith wasn't going to stay. He was on last year of contract. Chicago did well to get a 2nd and a 5th for him. Robert Quinn also got last 2 years of contract voided, so Quinn is a FA this upcoming year too. If Ryan Poles can scout and draft well, they'll be fine. Keep in mind, he was with the Chiefs and they feasted on lower round guys and UDFA doing some serious work on the 53-man roster.

Brandin Cooks and/or a CB next, hopefully.

I feel like it's an opening to talk about my team to an empty room. Possibly favorite thing from this season start: Za'Darius Smith is #1 in the NFL in both sacks and TFL even though the Vikes have already had their bye week.

2022 dead cap hits for Smith:
Vikings: $3.3m
Packers: $11.4m

I still can't help but wonder when the Vikings season will fall apart? Maybe it will be a field goal.

I don't think team is/was a contender, and not as good as their record. Hockenson is a pretty big help, though. Secondary is a big need, though, but there are 3.5 hours left to get something done. If the Rams and Bucs continue to implode, it opens things up.

I'm not sold on Kirk Cousins doing anything of value when it counts but they, as I figured, took advantage of a down NFC North and ran with it.

No one is catching them there.

Wow--Adam Zimmer passed away at 38. Sad. No cause as yet. A Vikings heavy day today.

Bears traded a 2nd rounder for Claypool. I'm not upset but I'm not thrilled either.
They need an "elite" guy.

I think it's a tad of an overpay considering he's probably not an elite guy.

But, you have like a million high draft picks in 2023 and the market would probably say Claypool is worth like a back-end second or third. Bears WR corps is pretty bad before today.

Would sure hate for the packers to have to fight Detroit for last place. So sad.

Are the Broncos dumb enough to trade Jeudy away?

Claypool had already moved down the depth chart behind 2nd round pick Pickens.

Packers were f'd the moment they spent everything to get Rodgers back.
Now he just gets angry at his receivers.

If you don't demand to be the highest paid QB in the league then you still have Davante Adams.

So the 2nd rounder is the Ravens 2nd and not the Bears, so that's better.

I think the Bears are desperate to get a good eval on Fields with some competent pass catchers before they have to decide (soon) whether he's the guy.

Not yet but they traded Chubb.

The Denver Broncos are trading outside linebacker Bradley Chubb to the Miami Dolphins for a package that includes the 2023 first-round pick that Miami acquired from the San Francisco 49ers last year, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Dolphins are also sending running back Chase Edmonds and a 2024 fourth-round pick to Denver for a 2025 fifth-round selection along with Chubb, a source told Schefter.
