Re: F the NCAA
this is trending toward the “everyone gets a trophy” issue
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Re: F the NCAA
IMO, they should cut D-1 at least in half and shrink the D-1a tourney to 32. The D-1b tourney can be 150 teams for all I care.
But, I understand that the tourney makes a ton of tv money, etc. b/c of the cinderella storyline factor and gambling. Which is all to say, why in the world would they mess with it? It's pretty perfect from a casual viewer standpoint. Would 16 teams not require another weekend? That would dilute it from a viewership standpoint.

I agree. I tend to think it's all part of a settlement agreement.ArgentineHawk wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:07 amProbably because this FINALLY puts an end to all of this. And probably why we’ll hang an “all time wins” banner (aka no games taken away from us). I’m happy with this.
At this point, there's no reason to give an inch unless it softens expected sanctions.
Re: F the NCAA
But if we aren't getting 'actual' penalties until after the season, again, why self-impose?
The NCAA could still fuck us.
The NCAA could still fuck us.
Re: F the NCAA
So Dooley vs Scheyer?
Re: F the NCAA
yea, I guess I can see that.
But I guess I wanna hear something from the other end first. "We'll call this whole case closed if you sit your coaches 4 games"
I like to think we've done our due diligence in not budging until there's a real settlement on the table, but I'm still worried the NCAA gonna NCAA and use us sitting coaches 4 games to start the 2022-2023 season, as some evidence and admission that we're like totally guilty of something back in 2017.

Re: F the NCAA
Only thing that sucks is I assume ESPN Gameday will be showing before champions classic. We could have had fluff pieces about the natty, but instead we get this.
Re: F the NCAA
oh shoot, I thought I clicked copy on the Goodman link
then again, didn't we have a "Goodman going full Goodman" thread for a while
Re: F the NCAA
On the bright side, if this is it, almost no punishment at all, and in fact, it'll bother the likes of Pat Forde and tmcats so much, they may completely meltdown.

This stuff is always behind closed doors. And that benefits both parties.ousdahl wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:11 am yea, I guess I can see that.

There's no reason to dig in on the denials for this long, rack up a quarter million plus in legal fees, to turn around and serve self-imposed sanctions before getting hammered.
This is movement, and the signs point to it being positive for KU, i.e., it's not going to get much worse than this.
Re: F the NCAA
yea, I should be more optimistic.
I just don't trust the NCAA one bit. I guess I'm just waiting for some moment they turn around all like, "GOTCHA!"
but yea, I think with the way we've fought and denied (for like 5 fucking years!), but actually doing something now, you gotta figure this is a very calculated move.

Re: F the NCAA
Do you think the three scholarship over three years means all three scholarship are gone for three years or it’s one scholarship a year for three years. The wording was a little weird I thought. That’s probably the worst part of this. Most of the 2022 recruiting stuff probably doesn’t matter much since we are in good shape for next recruiting class.
