you seem to be wrong about an awful lot

They might see this as admitting guilt and then push for more extreme things. Then again, not sure if it's better to admit nothing wrong.
I mean, this is kind of admitting guilt, is it not?

The wording was a little weird I thought. That’s probably the worst part of this. Most of the 2022 recruiting stuff probably doesn’t matter much since we are in good shape for next recruiting class.
recruiting punishment is already over anyway....if I read that right. April-July of 2022 is done.

If all the freshmen come back as well as all the recruits who have committed stay here, that would make 13 scholarships, meaning one would have to be pulled or moved to some financial aid agreement thing.

I remain perplexed at the very idea of scholarship reductions as penalties, whether self-imposed or otherwise.

No, it's just a move to get to the other side of this with as minimal damage as possible. In a court of law, you are allegedly innocent until proven guilty. That has proven to not be the case in the NCAA courts.

InfiniteJ might be referring to the court of public opinion, which is a decent point. But, there's only so much you can do to control that anyway, and it just seems like KU is at a point where they are less worried about that than before and more ready to move the fuck on.

Legally, KU is not admitting a damn thing. A settlement is just a way to resolve differences.

Somebody will likely be transferring after this season anyways. We are in the transfer market era. And we have guys on the end of our bench that could play a big role elsewhere

At this point, minds are made up, opinions have calcified.

It is sure seeming like KU's/Bill's strategy has, for whatever reason (or combination of reasons), shifted away from "win at all costs" to "manage the landing."

Or someone will get a nice NIL deal to offset the scholarship loss.

IARP ruling is not subject to appeal. They are certain to hand down some sort of punishment. NCAA has said they do not want to punish those who had nothing to do with it. These self-imposed sanctions address those mostly responsible or rather taking responsibility (not necessarily guilty). I don't anticipate any post season ban because it wouldn't be in anyone's best interests - KU's or NCAA's. This is a good faith measure by KU in hopes a lot more won't be added.

any conjecture about the complete lack of any real punishment for Louisville and what that portends for us?

I doubt KU gets much more than what they self imposed.

I don't think anything here is coincidental.

I don't think we'd be self-imposing anything in a vacuum. I don't think the timing of Louisville's announcement is unrelated.

I am cautiously hopeful that it would not make any sense for us to get something several orders of magnitude worse than what Louisville is getting.

Louisville only had 1 Level 1 violation and some minor level 3 violations. KU has 5 level 1 violations so this doesn't necessarily bode well for us.

Agreed. The self-imposed is more than Louisville. I think its a big portion of what it will end up being--more than half.
