Re: F the NCAA
you seem to be wrong about an awful lot
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I mean, this is kind of admitting guilt, is it not?StayCurious wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 12:00 pm I hope I'm wrong, but I'm concerned this might have made things worse. Seems someone at the NCAA has a thing against Self and KU. They might see this as admitting guilt and then push for more extreme things. Then again, not sure if it's better to admit nothing wrong.

NO, unequivocally.InfiniteJ wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 1:55 pmI mean, this is kind of admitting guilt, is it not?StayCurious wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 12:00 pm I hope I'm wrong, but I'm concerned this might have made things worse. Re: F the NCAA
recruiting punishment is already over anyway....if I read that right. April-July of 2022 is done.columbusdjkc wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:21 am Do you think the three scholarship over three years means all three scholarship are gone for three years or it’s one scholarship a year for three years. The wording was a little weird I thought. That’s probably the worst part of this. Most of the 2022 recruiting stuff probably doesn’t matter much since we are in good shape for next recruiting class.

If all the freshmen come back as well as all the recruits who have committed stay here, that would make 13 scholarships, meaning one would have to be pulled or moved to some financial aid agreement thing.

these things work themselves out

Re: F the NCAA
I remain perplexed at the very idea of scholarship reductions as penalties, whether self-imposed or otherwise.
Re: F the NCAA
No, it's just a move to get to the other side of this with as minimal damage as possible. In a court of law, you are allegedly innocent until proven guilty. That has proven to not be the case in the NCAA courts.InfiniteJ wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 1:55 pmI mean, this is kind of admitting guilt, is it not?StayCurious wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 12:00 pm I hope I'm wrong, but I'm concerned this might have made things worse. InfiniteJ might be referring to the court of public opinion, which is a decent point. But, there's only so much you can do to control that anyway, and it just seems like KU is at a point where they are less worried about that than before and more ready to move the fuck on.
Legally, KU is not admitting a damn thing. A settlement is just a way to resolve differences.

Somebody will likely be transferring after this season anyways. We are in the transfer market era. And we have guys on the end of our bench that could play a big role elsewhereNewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 2:39 pm If all the freshmen come back as well as all the recruits who have committed stay here, that would make 13 scholarships, meaning one would have to be pulled or moved to some financial aid agreement thing.

per SI, louisville will be getting their punishment handed down tomorrow

It is sure seeming like KU's/Bill's strategy has, for whatever reason (or combination of reasons), shifted away from "win at all costs" to "manage the landing."

Or someone will get a nice NIL deal to offset the scholarship loss.randylahey wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 3:22 pmSomebody will likely be transferring after this season anyways. Re: F the NCAA
IARP ruling is not subject to appeal. They are certain to hand down some sort of punishment. NCAA has said they do not want to punish those who had nothing to do with it. These self-imposed sanctions address those mostly responsible or rather taking responsibility (not necessarily guilty). I don't anticipate any post season ban because it wouldn't be in anyone's best interests - KU's or NCAA's. This is a good faith measure by KU in hopes a lot more won't be added.
Re: F the NCAA
any conjecture about the complete lack of any real punishment for Louisville and what that portends for us?
Re: F the NCAA
I don't think anything here is coincidental.
I don't think we'd be self-imposing anything in a vacuum. I don't think the timing of Louisville's announcement is unrelated.
I am cautiously hopeful that it would not make any sense for us to get something several orders of magnitude worse than what Louisville is getting.

Re: F the NCAA
Agreed. The self-imposed is more than Louisville. I think its a big portion of what it will end up being--more than half.
