Tomorrow
Mark it.
The beginning of the end of Democracy in the United States.
The last real election.
Gonna be a shit show until everyone falls in line.

could very easily be the beginning of the end with all the election deniers on the ballot, and seemingly looking like they may winOverlander wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 11:31 am Mark it.

it’s a sad commentary on the intelligence and integrity of so many Americans, that they’d knowingly and willingly elect such people
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Hey, at least we don’t have to worry about the Russians meddling!

Gentlemen, we interfered, we are interfering and we will interfere,” Prigozhin, who has been accused of running a “troll factory” to influence the outcome of votes in several western countries, said in a statement quoted by his team.
“Carefully, precisely, surgically and the way we do it, the way we can,” Prigozhin quipped.

The irony is lost in that the ostensible reason for why the election deniers do their thing is because they oppose tyranny!KUTradition wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 11:45 amcould very easily be the beginning of the end with all the election deniers on the ballot, and seemingly looking like they may winOverlander wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 11:31 am Mark it.

If we really think about it, we’ve never been a true democracy in our nearly 250 years of existence. At best, we’ve been a prole-approved oligarchy
Re: Tomorrow
cnn says the fate of democracy is at stake.
foxnews says the fate of democracy is at stake.
we only have two choices. how is it that the fate of democracy is at stake no matter the outcome.

Re: Tomorrow
Agreed. My guess is that the "fate of democracy" has been at stake (according to the participants and the media) hundreds of times in our hundreds of years of national elections. We'll survive whatever bunch of incompetent idiots that the GOP elects and we'll survive whatever bunch of "woke for style points" libs that the Democrats elect.

it seems to me that it is much more of a literal situation now than it has been historically
there are too many deniers, on too many ballots nationwide, such that any number of elections could literally be subverted if those that may end up in power don’t like the results (even if completely legitimate)

Yes. And way too many fucking idiots that follow them all the way, just as long as it makes someone a little more miserable than they areKUTradition wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 3:31 pmtwocoach wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:59 pmAgreed.
