I thought there already wasn't alcohol allowed in stadiums.
I guess it was just during the matches.
Regardless, Qatar seems to not GAF about corporate relations.

or human rights
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

So, you can drink, but in organized zones far away from the stadiums.
If you get too drunk, we may force you to stay in a sober tent ( holding cell? ).

There are gonna be a lot of people not allowed into the games they paid good money for.

Lots of countries coming that believe alcohol goes with watching soccer.

Love how a US fan put out a map of all hotels and bars serving alcohol and it's been shared thousands of times and is going to be absolutely swamped.

You couldn't pay me all the money in the world to go to Qatar to watch a World Cup match. Not even if it was on the midfield stripe and in the final. So much crap going on there that it would be tough to navigate.

Grant Wahl was on his podcast and he said while doing a live video shoot, someone walked into his townhouse and he thought he had said something and they were coming for him. Turns out, a guy walked into the wrong townhouse, but still. He got in trouble for taking a picture of a slogan on the wall in the media room.

You have to walk on complete eggshells with everything there. They have secret police that just pop up everywhere without any idea. It would be terrifying to be there.

I would like to visit Doha, but pretty much a 0% chance that I'd go for this event.

I agree with the general sentiment that we shouldn't be putting it on the players to make a statement about all of the bad shit. The governments and journalists should have dialed up the pressure way back when.

I would go, if put up in a lavish hotel, with personal transportation, and sideline, 10th row, aisle seats to all 3 USA matches. First class flight there and back. Everything paid for.

The players shouldn't have to make any statements.
But if they want to, they should.

imo, whoever thought Qatar was a good idea needs their head/s examined

how could there NOT be “social” issues to deal with

unless…*gasp*…such issues matter little to the decision makers

I really don't think it was a matter of good idea vs. bad idea.

Yes.

So maybe "good idea" in the sense that if you want to venmo me $250 million in blood money, I think that's a good idea.

USA today.
I feel as confident as I did going into the NCAA games against Auburn or USC in our last five tourneys.

I mean, I'd say a win, but yes. Need at least one point and hope you beat Iran like a drum in game 3 while England smokes Wales.
