I envision the numbers ending up:
DH 31+mpg
BP 15ish mpg
Yes 7ish mpg

If Rice really gets going in a month or two then no more Yes minutes probably.

If anyone else was playing well I'd agree. But nobody else is giving us anything at the 2 either

Thats true. Pettiford plays smart basketball, I like him backing up dajuan. But he is also the smallest, the worst shooter, and maybe the worst defender. I dont like him at the 2.

Those back up minutes at the 2 should be yesefus, but he ain't producing. Could still go to mj rice so he can learn. I know he plays back up minutes at the 3 too

Mccullar is a beast. But his offense ain't. He was sloppy with the basketball tonight. Still our 4th best player. And feels like there a big drop off after jalen grady dajuan and mccullar

Worst defender?
Yes is worse than Pettiford.

Pettiford must have the coaches fooled. Against Duke he came in (later in the game) for Gradey solely for defensive purposes.

I actually think BP is our 3rd or 4th best defender behind DH KM and maybe KJ.

Not sure. Both are small. Pettiford gets scored over pretty easily. Yesefu is stronger and maybe quicker. Both have gotten some steals and hustle plays on their minutes

Neither one is very good on defense

Outside of them is basically freshman tho. Grady isn't a good defender. I wouldn't say pettiford was there solely for defense. For ball handling. Pettiford does a really good job taking care of the ball

We are blessed to have 2 very good point guards when it comes to taking care of the ball and setting up the offense. I just wish one (or both) of them could shoot. It would make it a lot easily to play them together. Especially with them both being small guards.

If we get used to playing them together we are gonna be in for some roughhh ugly games this season. When we get to big 12 play, teams are gonna know who can't shoot and use it against us

Even southern Utah was

I don’t have enough to be able to really tell, this season, if Pettiford is good, but last season, before he was hurt, his tenacity on defense was one of his strengths.

I kind of remember one game where Yes had a top notch defensive output but over the season, he was pretty bad.

I can’t recall which thread I posted it in after Duke, but I called that a program win. The culture is winning.

Again today. Kevin. Bobby. Play to the buzzer.

one of the good signs through at least the first 7 games:

McCullar: 9.7pts, 7.3 boreds, 2.1 assists, 1.9 steals, .9 blocks, 2.9 TO.

He's so far within a point of his scoring and assist averages from last year, same TOs, but better blocks, steals, much better rebounding. Shooting percentages all pretty similar thus far too.

That's to say, pretty sure he's the first transfer we've ever had whose numbers didn't drop significantly upon arrival from his old school to KU?

Remy, Yes, JCL, Isaiah, (others?) all seemed to tank. That's not even to mention the non-D1 transfers like Cam and TGIF, guys who might have shown promise at some other level but barely even sniff the court here.

I mean, in what world did anyone think Remy Martin was going to come in and score 19 PPG?

McCullar's production was never going to be a worry, here. And his efficiency will improve even more once he gets more reps with this system and these teammates.

We've had a lot of successful transfers.
