Too many fucking asshole Pubs in Congress bitching about how they feel Libs want their guns taken away.
I don't know about "taken away" but many want assault guns (weapons with the sole purpose of killing as many PEOPLE as possible in a short period of time) to not exist/be sold, they want stricter gun laws and those laws ENFORCED, and "red flags" to be addressed. That's a bad thing? If you truly think so, I say a giant - fuck you.
Of course those things may not have prevented this tragedy but NO ONE with a brain can/should claim it might not have helped.

if hundreds of cops in Uvalde couldn't stop a mass shooter, but a couple of dancing queers in the Springs could, then maybe the safest thing we could do for our nation's schoolchildren is to furnish every classroom with dancing queers.

yea, not really.
It's too tragic and too commonplace at this point to use terms like "silver lining" or "poetic justice" or whatever, but if we may isolate one thought here as at least less awful than all the others, it's that a homophobe mass shooter got pistol whipped with his own gun by a drag queen.

about a year ago. the shooter kidnapped his mother. locked down in their home. threatened to blow up the house they were locked in. had a standoff with the cops. he eventually surrendered.
for his crimes. the DA made him promise not to do it again. he was released back out into the wild.
the system had him. the system let him go.
or something like that.

is it just me or has media kinda downplayed the "assault weapon" thing in this instance?
Most articles I've seen have afforded the euphemism of "long gun"
as if the dude busted into a crowded bar and racked up dozens of casualties with grandpa's deer rifle...

(this is also the same city in which another mass shooter mowed down a planned parenthood clinic not too long ago)
As such, the question is less "did the hippy dippy snowflakes go too hippy dippy on him" and more "did the magahead conservative authorities (perhaps influenced by his magahead conservative lawmaker grandaddy?) go so magahead conservative that they decided to cut some slack to one of their own kind..."
