Re: next soccer question
I think we'll see Ferreira get the start at striker today due to Iran's likely game plan of parking the bus. His strength in our system is dropping back to get the ball then going forward when we have numbers to push and pick out a pass out wide.

If Gio isn't starting, i'd like to see him on in the 2nd if we can't get a goal in the 1st.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 8:40 am US wearing the blue jerseys again. Hope that it brings some good luck.
I'm worried about the low block that Iran is going to put on. US couldn't break Canada's low block so it's going to be tough to beat Iran as theirs is better.
I'm hopeful that the current US form continues. This is probably the best that they've played in quite some time.
I also hope the US depth shines through today. Deep team and healthy overall.
The blue jerseys are atrocious.

if we don't beat iran the boys should have to walk home.

If you're the US and you advance, you are likely going to finish 2nd.
Group A live standings is
1. Netherlands
2. Senegal
Playing Netherlands if results stay the same and the US move on.

I want as much joy in my life as African fans have watching their team play soccer. Ghana, Senegal and Cameroon just have parties.

It looks so fun. I enjoy watching them almost as much as the game.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 9:52 am I want as much joy in my life as African fans have watching their team play soccer. Ghana, Senegal and Cameroon just have parties.

Good for Senegal. They were better than the Netherlands for most of the match in Game 1.

Okay, I was wrong. Josh Sargent gets the start at striker. And Cameron Carter-Vickers replaces Zimmerman at CB for his pace with us planning to have to throw numbers forward.

Re: next soccer question
We need to win in order to advance.
USA win + England win = second place
USA win by 4 or fewer goals + England/Wales draw = second place
USA win by 5 or more goals + England/Wales draw = first place
USA win + Wales win = first place
USA win + England win = second place

I remember watching the 1998 Iran game after a soccer tournament. Let's hope today goes a little smoother for us.

Carter-Vickers in for Zimmerman at CB. That means US knows they're going to have possession and they'll be pushing all game and CCV is better than Zimmerman with the ball.

Correct. Because Iran has 3 points and we have 2, any draw or loss means we're out.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 12:16 pmAh, so a draw won't cut it. Thanks.UnholyLivingDead wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 12:03 pm We need to win in order to advance.

What an environment. Lots of Iran fans, tons of US fans. Love it.
