The problem with "misinformation" is its sometimes just information that is politically harmful

Re: Facebook, Google, et al
We just watched 2 years of "misinformation" surrounding covid being flagged censored and removed by Twitter Facebook etc
And then a few months later that same "misinformation" has been verified as fact

Actual misinformation isn't beneficial i get that. But what is or isn't "misinformatiom" should not be dictated by one side of the political spectrum.
Elon musk and Twitter and bringing some balance to that and so far that's been a very good thing

No, God no, not "critical thinking". That's the whole problem. "Common Sense" and "critical thinking" are part of the problem, they mean just giving into your brain's bugs instead of knowing how to identify good sources of informationStayCurious wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 11:35 amAgreed. People spread all kinds of incorrect information about the vaccines without knowing they were useless. "Pandemic of the unvaccinated" was just one example. People need to use their critical thinking and not rely on the news.

Re: Facebook, Google, et al
some of us adhere to different definitions of “critical thinking”
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Facebook, Google, et al
I can't begin to tell you how stupid this is.
I mean, I already explained it a few pages back.
Re: Facebook, Google, et al
The way I see/hear people use critical thinking and common sense, it's usually a euphemism for "facile"KUTradition wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 12:18 pm some of us adhere to different definitions of “critical thinking”

They didn't have to sell, Elon offered a lot more than it was worth.randylahey wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 12:33 pmIt twitter was being run efficiently they wouldn't have had to sell
It has nothing to do with running efficiently. It's strategy. People were building new stuff in hope of making the product greater - they weren't there to keep it running, that's not hard to do as long as you set things up well to begin with, which clearly they did.
Re: Facebook, Google, et al
some of us know better than to rely on the interwebz for our exposure to the critical thinkers.

So, you're saying "submit your mind" to some "expert"? Good luck with that. That's exactly what most Chinese are doing in China. How's that working out?Mjl wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 12:00 pmNo, God no, not "critical thinking". That's the whole problem. They had to sell. They were losing millions daily. Elons 44 billion was the value of what their stocks were worth

New ideas. New tech. Compression. Search algorithms. Analytics. Data management. Partnerships. Awareness. Marketing/PR. The list goes on and on.
I have no idea what randy does but I can safely assume he has no idea of what goes on at companies like Twitter.

They grew the company too quickly. I jack dorseys own words. Tech guys that didn't necessarily know the ins and outs of running a business. And obviously they had too many lazy people sitting in front of computer screens
Re: Facebook, Google, et al
You have no idea. At all. None whatsoever.

Jack dorsey said word for word that he grew the company too quick. In his apology/statement reflecting on the sale. So obviously I have some idea. Im quoting jack dorsey. Or does he have no idea either?

And yes pdub. They were working on new tech, algorithms, new ideas, etc. Im not arguing there. But they were losing money working on too much future stuff. Obviously did not have a very effective plan collectively.

You're sharing a tweet from some moran spouting off about how useless people are, doubling down on it with no idea at all what you're talking about by saying there were just lazy people sitting in front of computer screens, when you have no idea at all how a type of company like that is run.
You just hopped aboard the Musk v the Libs train and are just mindlessly scrolling through tweets and facebook posts getting giddy and regurgitating what every single Musk v Libs crusader is currently regurgitating.
