They lost to Sienna 60-55 the other night...for whatever that's worth
And then, on top of that, MIZZOU looks to be pretty good, and we gotta go Colombia for our first road game?
Didn't watch last game.
Thinks Missourah is pretty good.
Who is this guy? Ban.

MIZZOU is trash forever.
But I think their 8-0 basketball team could be tough ( just beat WSU on the road, currently with the 14th adjO compared to our 33rd ) and rabid after what we did to them last season -- though that is one helluva cupcake schedule.

it’s misery

any other form of reference gives them too much respect
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Calling them MIZZOU, to me, is just mockery ( adding exclamation points even better ).
Like, we're MIZZOU, just a ridiculous abbreviation, as in, pay attention to us, we're on the verge of something great but then, faceplant.

Because they are (at least historically) one of our main rivals.

I think it'll be good for our young guys to play in a hostile environment.

Because Jeff Long is the worst AD KU has ever had which is saying a lot for the school that also employed Sheahon Zenger.

we lead the series 175-95. As in, mizzou could (only hypothetically) win literally the next 80 games straight and still only be tied. Maybe THEN we could call it a rivalry. But the thing is, they're never gonna win the next 80 games straight!

This is more so just giving attention to little brother. And, considering little brother isn't actually a younger sibling, but is literally an institution as deplorable as mizzou, I just wish we didn't even bother.

I maintain: if mizzou ever wanted to play us again, we shoulda just told them to come find us in the tournament.

especially considering they COULD have played us 2-3 times a year every year, but they decided to shit all over the conference instead!\

fuck mizzou.

and fuck you illy for your fucking contrarian bullshit trying to validate mizzou.

GTFO with that "our" bullshit.

If you had any idea what it's like to actually be a Jayhawk, you wouldn't want anything to do with Mizzou either.

I'm all for fuck MIZZOU and not playing them ever again.
But I still maintain they are our biggest rival.
But we've had this conversation a lot and no one who has made their mind up is gonna change it.

man, what a great thread.

and, ok, let's just say mizzou IS our biggest rival...as such, it would have been so much better to just take all their pleas for relevancy (looosely disguised as "renew the rivalry") and rubbed their face in it, letting them know over and over and over what little bitches they are for running off to the SEC.

If they really want us that bad, come find us in the tournament, which then prompts the point that "but mizzou barely ever even makes the tournament, only twice in the last decade/since they left the conference, and hasn't even WON a tournament game since 2010. Cuz that's exactly the point...they suck! Let's not waste our time with such a festering turd of a program!

Be loud about it! Let ESPN run with the stories! Make it a thing!

the bigger rivalry move would have been that. Be very articulate in articulating we want nothing to do with them, and certainly don't want to afford them their super bowl, when to us it means little more than any other matchup with a noncon bottom feeder.

Our name is in the college hoops headlines on the reg. Their name mostly just makes headlines when they're playing us. Why afford them that kinda attention?

in conclusion, fuck mizzou.

I agree.
The rivalry is so deep I just prefer them to rot.

I think they are replacing a ton of their personnel. They'll be up for this game and their coach ain't scared.

KU -9.5. I think (hope) a win but a SH cover.

Mizzou going to the SEC was a smart move for them at the time.

We've got posters on here every single day hoping we get invited to the Big10.

If we got an SEC invite I think we'd probably take it.

Keep telling yourself that. To "you" it may mean nothing, but the atmosphere and ticket prices from last year's game in AFH seem to indicate many people disagree with you.

Such a weird defense mechanism to pretend beating Mizzou is the same as beating other conference bottom feeders. It's not. It never has been.

yea, you're right, it's not the same. It never has been.

Other noncon bottom feeders DON'T make fun of our players for their moms passing away unexpectedly, DON'T sabotage the entire conference, DON'T have rivalry roots in literal guerrilla warfare, etc.

and bro, the atmosphere and ticket prices from last year's game in AFH are not unique to last year's game. AFH is ALWAYS the elite college hoops atmosphere regardless. The only time that Columbia even has a college hoops atmosphere at all is when KU is in town. Why afford them that?

Not to mention things like, at least some other noncon bottom feeders have actually been to a final four before
