And like with most fanbases, it's not the reasonable one's who are the loudest.

I work in Champaign 2 or 3 days a week most weeks and they are definitely excited about the team this year.

Luck you! I deal with both diehard and bandwagon Illini fans. Most of them are good people who I like. Nothing wrong with supporting and celebrating your team's accomplishments but it would be nice if they realized they are no Kansas.
Not sure why but it just rubs me the wrong way when I see the Illini doing well and it seems 90% of the Illini gear I am being seen worn appears to be brand new. I figure the old stuff comes out of the back of the closet or attic/basement. I can go a month without seeing a single Illini item being worn and then I see 20 people wearing Illini stuff in a single day when they are doing well.
