Last bash from me for a while

GGG “We don’t have a player who scores goals in the Champions League like Memphis Depay”

Research…

Depay had 20 goals with Lyon in 20-21, transferred to Barcelona and scored 12 goals.
That's 32 goals with 2 top notch clubs.
Not to say Pefok shouldn't have gone - bc he probably should have - but that's a lot of stat picking - Pefok plays in a much weaker league.

Compare where Depay has been and what he has done to Pefok.
Come on maaaaaan.

It's been somewhat proven that coaches who go through 2 World Cup cycles with a team often do worse in the 2nd cycle then the first. France with Deschamps and to a MUCH lesser extent, Gareth Southgate at England are the exceptions.

Wouldn't be a fan, but I would get it because US Soccer.

Here's what likely happens. US renews Berhalter, they host the 2024 Copa America. They don't do well. GGG is fired. Jesse Marsch comes on to finish out the cycle.

Saw this somewhere..

The World Cup storylines for each Quarterfinalist
Morocco becomes first African country to win
Messi or Ronaldo will have the final GOAT argument
England finally brings it home
France go back-to-back for first time in like 60 years
Neymar gives Brazil their 6th star, 2 clear of 2nd best
Modric retires from International Soccer leading a country who is just 30 years old to a win
Netherlands win for the first time ever after losing in final match 3 times.

Well, Ronaldo isn't even starting, but yes, he'd have a World Cup title.

I think it's a little surprising for that long of tenure. I don't know what things were like prior to the WC qualifying, but felt like the US merely met but did not exceed expectations at WC, there was a lack of goal scoring in the games, and did they not win the qualifying? But, like you said, 2026 is a long time from now.

England-France on Saturday is going to be so much fun.

KU with kind of a meh non-con schedule prior to xmas, so World Cup in December is fine for me this year.

Almost every team does that now because when players of the wall jump, players are good enough to drive the ball on the ground under their feet when they jump.
