It's kind of weird that we're off this week. Finals are next week.

Probably should have had the Texas Southern game that was right after the Bahamas tonight.

Is this the thread for general stuff about this season? Assuming so...

Baseline cuts. Never seen a Self team utilize them anywhere remotely near as much as this year. Why is that?

Lots of speed and KJ is a really good passer at the 5?

yea, something like that.

I was gonna say maybe cuz we really aren't playing much with a traditional post - both in the sense of maybe that affects spacing, and/or that if we can't toss it into the post then we gotta get looks some other way, so why not back door.

but, I remember Landen Lucas being good at that back door dish too, and was also an old school post, so who knows

not that I know anything about basketball either way

having 5 guys on the floor that can grab the rebound and run is a unique situation…just hope KJ doesn’t try to do too much
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

For yesterday it was because Gates likes to play full pressure with traps in the full court and then overplays out on the perimeter.

I know it’s the identity he’s trying to install, but that is a terrible strategy against us, especially when you are several degrees worse and many pounds fatter than this KU team. Blowout city. It was shooting practice and a layup line that could have been closer with a different mizzou approach.

Surprised nobody mentioned cam Martin finally getting on the floor. Do we like what we've seen of him? Is he our back up center for this season?

Cam only played a couple minutes so who knows.

I do like his ink tho.

But yea, while KJ is a killer matchup against teams like miz, at some point we’re gonna need our bigs to actually be big

Cam was bad and was yanked pretty immediately. Self got a little too cute, there.

I am surprised he came in before some of the other bigs.

He basically showed nothing.

I still think/hope our 5 consists mainly of Udeh and KJ.

Yeah, there was more of it yesterday, but they've been doing it more than usual the whole season. Might just be because there's more space since nobody is trying to post up. Or maybe teams are just pressuring more

Right. When we play our 5-out offense, need a ton of movement off the ball. Gets the defense to turn their backs, too.

This is closer to the type of offense I've been wanting to run, but this team might just be a player short of being a great offense.

Agree.

I think it is very encouraging to see us evolving and making adjustments. Hopefully we can continue to tweak some things to cover up some of our shooting deficiencies.

Has to be expected. That was technically his first game ever

Self did that as a reward for him--remember he transferred from Missouri Southern after graduation. I assume he really wanted a chance to play in Columbia. One of the things we love about Self.

Oklahoma to Joplin was his path, so not exactly mizzou central, but still a pretty fair point.

Heck, he was probably looking at being rewarded no matter who we played where he was first available. He's been waiting a long time to see the floor.
