This goes under the category of shit that keeps me up at night and I'll be glad to walk away from when I retire.

Every engineer's worst nightmare, waking up and seeing your project on the front page of every news site in the world. I met some of the people who designed and built the Berlin aquarium about a decade ago while we were working on a boondoggle called Acquario Ceara in Fortaleeza Brazil. Acquario Ceara was gonna be the third largest aquarium in the world. As part of our introduction to team members we saw images of the then recently completed Berlin project. I distinctly recall talking to our partners after the meeting, and we all agreed we would not want to be legally responsible for that Berlin aquarium. Not because of any thoughts that the engineers responsible were in over their heads, clearly they weren't. But as a concept it looked scary as fuck in case something like this happened. The thought of digging up thousands and thousands of pages of documents that are a decade old and reviewing and producing them and wondering what non-engineers will make of them in court....fuck me. Yet another reason to accelerate my retirement.
The Acquario Ceara sat for years as a concrete shell half completed, I think it got demolished to clear the site a few years ago. It would have been cool though.
