This is ultimately a good thing (besides the fact he died, of course), and I'm glad this was not foul play. I still have no trust for the corrupt Qataris in power, but as reprehensible as I think some of them are, I don't believe them to be stupid. Killing Grant Wahl at that time and so obviously would have been really stupid.

Have we ever seen a journalist talked and remembered like this? Shows how respected he was. A great CBB writer. A legendary soccer writer and advocate.

He would have loved to see Argentina in the final considering he was so interested in their culture that he lived there for like a year or so.

Maybe it's like this everywhere and I'm just not aware, but it's impressive to me how many great national (and local) sportswriters come from and/or go through KC.

I was hoping it wouldn't be another 3-0, but we might be headed there. Sunday's gonna be great.

That bicycle kick would have been the goal of the last 10 World Cups. Wow.

This makes it close for me. Just in general, France every day for me over a lot of teams, especially South American ones.

But, in addition to the Messi storyline, it's not like France is starved for a Cup right now. I'm satisfied either way, just ready to watch.

I've never gotten the Messi hate.

I think Messi has been everything that people should want from their top athletes.

Quiet in the spotlight (until recently)
A great passer AND a great finisher
Stayed with one club for 17 years
Has had the weight of an entire country on his shoulders and has still been doing it at a high level.

Yes he had the whole tax fraud thing, but it seems Spain goes after quite a few people for that kind of stuff. And just imagine how many people actually do stuff to avoid taxes. ;)

I used to like Ronaldo back in the day. But more recently now, I realize I much more lean towards Messi than Ronaldo.

I don't hate the guy, just never been a fan.

There is no denying he is a terrific footballer and one of the GOAT's.

I certainly like Messi far more than Ronaldo.
I do not like the country of France so that, plus full respect for Messi's skills, it's Argentina for me.
