Cole Haan are really comfortable when you are on your feet for 10 hours, on concrete.
No idea what the other shoes you listed are. I assume shoes for douchebags?

Yes, Alden shoes are used by douchebags. Harrison Ford is a douchebag for wearing them in Indiana Jones.

WARDROBE!!
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Totally random thread
I've eaten them but never made em. Kudos, now I need to find a Runza.
Defense. Rebounds.

Harrison Ford is wearing Alden BOOTS in Indiana Jones and yes, Alden shoes (and boots) are "used" by douche bags. Of course not everyone who wears them are douche bags - but many people are.StayCurious wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 11:20 pm Yes, Alden shoes are used by douchebags. I own multiple pairs of Cole Haans for the same reason - comfort when I am on my feet for a long time.Overlander wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 10:48 pm Cole Haan are really comfortable when you are on your feet for 10 hours, on concrete.

When it comes to comfort and what I like to wear on my feet, thankfully I'm not someone who really cares when other people judge me negatively.
Although, on the flip side, I will admit I sincerely appreciate a compliment if it's in regards to one of my favorite pairs of shoes that I wear.
While I am a little surprised you have never heard of Alden or Allen Edmonds, I feel your assumption is generally correct - but as I said to StayQ, not everyone who wears them are douchebags - but many are.

Shared this last night.......
If I was on the west side instead of the east side of Michigan and Superior at approximately 5:15pm this evening, there is a good chance I would currently be hospitalized if not dead.
Car was being followed by police heading east on Superior. Was stopped in traffic at a red light at Superior and Michigan. Driver decided to ram other cars to escape. Car ZOOMED through the red light, took a right on Michigan heading south - miraculously not hitting any pedestrians crossing the street. Driver proceeded to drive about 70-80 mph south on Michigan Avenue.

Not mine - today. Busier than I thought it would be.
Was just told I am expected to be in the office for 9 hours on Friday the 30th.
Decent chance there won't be any more than 3 other people in the office that day - out of our over 300 people who work in the Chicago office. JUNK!!!!!!!

Sorry gutter, that's rough.
I honestly think the past few years have been so hard on everyone, especially workers, that it would be really nice for a lot of people to have 12/23 - 1/2 off of work, given how the calendar works out.

Reached out to some nice people this morning on a whim - and they are making it possible for me to attend the Golden Globes.
Never in a million years did I think it could/would happen but they claim they were actually happy to accommodate me.
Moral of the story is.... Be good to people and they may be good to you?

Work continues on "Casa Troche y Moche".
We were out looking for doors over the weekend. We need an entrance door to our residence in the Empire. It is the portal from the public studio side of our compound to the private casa. This transition requires doors that make a statement. We bought these two bright green behemoths on Sunday.
Best guess is they are at least 150 years old and came from Guadalajara. We were told they are mesquite wood. I have worked with a lot of old growth lumber of various species over the years in renovating historic buildings. This is my first encounter with mesquite. The closest thing I have seen in the midwest is the black locust logs used as a "base course" in early log cabins. Mequite lumber supposedly has twice the hardness of oak and is more dense. Each door is 17 x 82 x 2.5 with a solid 3x3 jamb attached. The jamb has a tenon notched into the end that can be set into the floor. The old latch hardware is sort of medieval. We also bought an old oak 36 x 96 x 2 door at the same time. It was consensus among everyone who loaded or unloaded these doors that the "half sized" mesquite doors each outweighed the big oak door and it didn't seem close. We will prolly test them with a battering ram after they are installed just to see how they hold up.
In case you are wondering, the finish will stay as is. The inset panels open up from the inside to provide a pass thru for cash or guns or the heaving of buckets of molten lead to repel angry mobs. We are hoping to have them installed in time for Solstice 2023.

hope your trimmers and kings are solid! invest in good hinges! ha.
Ive never worked with mesquite. I've burnt it but never used it for anything.
Black locust is great....ish....Hard as fuck, dulls the chainsaw/saw incredibly quickly. But.....never rots. There are locust fence posts out here that are 150 years old that look as if they were just cut and stuffed on the ground.
