Mizzou crushed ranked Illinois tonight. Not to take any pleasure from a Mizzou win ... But that is good for us

After 1989, any time/every time the Frightening Illness lose, I take pleasure in it.
Even if it comes at the cost of a Mizzou win.

Nonetheless, I'm not sure I see how he doesnt get fired. Really bad optics, dang near impossible to justify keeping him employed for the University.

In ny opinion, there's enough evidence right now to show that he's a piece of shit and id get rid of him. I suppose I should wait for all the information to co me out....but, pretty hard to explain away....
BINGO!
Shocker (sarcasm) Beard's fiancé now claims he didn't choke her and she lied to the police.
As you said, the charge could have landed him in prison and it got "negotiated away" to "nothing" or "near nothing".
Meanwhile, my guess is more often than not domestic abuse is NOT a one and done. They both come off as being assholes.

From the admin of Wildcat Maniacs.....

Kentucky is terrible. They'll beat U of L, but not by as much as Vegas thinks.
Then what? They'll battle for 5th, 6th, or 7th in the SEC and be on the NCAA bubble.
Cal has the returning POY, 2 freshmen McDonald's All Americans, and other high rated players and the team is terrible.
I'll watch the U of L game - or at least DVR it. After that, I'm checking out.
Might be time for a change in Lexington.

The Kentucky thing is baffling. On paper they should be one of the better teams. They could still get it together but pretty hilarious where they are at right now

The thing to learn from UK is that bigs are now complementary players. Not enough around the the POTY preselection.

Oscar is a nice complimentary piece, but not the top player on a national title contender, imo. Too limited offensively.

Also, Mizzou isn't nearly as bad as we made them look. They've picked up 2 nice wins against Illinois and UK.

I think we are the best team in the country, but our margin for error is razor thin. We can't have DH get in foul trouble and we have to get scoring from JW and GD every night. Otherwise we get average in a hurry.

I think Cal is gone if they aren't a top like 3 or 4 seed. Right now, they should be on the outside looking in.

Last Final 4 was in 2015 when they were unbeaten all year. Getting paid in excess of $9M per year to not produce. And plus on top of that, Nike decided Duke was going to get all the recruits.

It's so strange. UK stats compared to KU stats:
UK's 78.4 ppg vs. KU's 78.8 ppg
UK's 40.7 rpg vs. KU's 38.4 rpg
UK's 17.8 apg vs. KU's 18.3 apg
UK's 7.8 spg vs. KU's 9.8 spg
UK's 4.8 bpg vs. KU's 4.3 bpg
UK's 12.4 TO/g vs. KU's 12.4 TO/g
UK's 46.1% fg% vs. KU's 48.3% fg%
UK's 39.5% 3pt fg% vs. KU's 35.9% 3pt fg%
UK's 39.8% opponent fg% vs. KU's 39.2% opponent fg%
UK's 64.4 opponent ppg vs. KU's 64.2 opponent ppg

On paper, they really aren't much different than a KU team that looks like one of the serious contenders this season. That mostly just shows that stats don't really mean much. UK seems to have had a few big blowouts of cream puffs amidst an otherwise underwhelming campaign. UK's four best opponents were Gonzaga, Michigan State, UCLA and Mizzou and they went 0-4 in those games while Kansas' four best opponents were Duke, Tennessee, Indiana and Mizzou and they went 3-1 in those games.

I don't see them firing Cal. Maybe he sees the writing on the wall and moves on to a different job but it would be too expensive to fire him and the odds of them hiring someone who will do better aren't that great.

I just hope they don't hire Nate Oats before Kansas does.

I need to see at least 3 years from him before I can make an evaluation. We'll see if this is for real or if the players are just responding to a new voice. That newness wears off over an offseason or two of grinding.

KU's SOS is stronger than Kentuckys.
And, despite that, their only bad loss is @ MIZZOU.

I don't think SoS is a reliable metric until about February. We don't really even know if that's a bad loss right now. Mizzou might actually be really good and we still whipped them, who knows?

Look at the teams they played other than the ones they lost to…where they are accumulating a lot of those stats.

The gap in SOS is significant enough to be a factor now.

Seems like every site has a difference "SoS" metric so who knows. In general I agree that UK has had a few more really trash opponents than KU has had. But just a reminder that some KU fans have been grumbling about our lack of quality opponents this season.

But KU is finding ways to win games while UK is finding ways to lose and to make it worse, UK's four losses have been by 9, 10, 14 and 16 points.

I have never been impressed with the UK PG Wheeler so it doesn't surprise me that they seem to be losing more with him at the wheel of the bus.
