Conspiracies
Re: Conspiracies
Not actually what DC said. DC said the USA is not sending tens of billions of dollars in cash.
Which is indisputably true.

Re: Conspiracies
indisputably?
does that mean we cleared up any potential disputes by auditing Ukraine aid?

Re: Conspiracies
You can audit whatever you want. I don't care. There are no good guys in this war -- domestically, especially -- only bad guys and badder guys.
Nevertheless, you don't need an audit to know that the US government has NOT sent tens of billions of dollars in cash to Ukraine.

Re: Conspiracies
If he sticks "we are not sending physical dollar bills" over there then yes, he is correct. But we unquestionably have provided billions of dollars in funding and not just weaponry.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 3:40 am I'm a salty person because of many things but I wouldn't want someone to defend me for being a kook in regards to unrelated things.
Also, there are differences between being salty and being a kook.
Lara Logan is both salty and a kook.
On an unrelated note....
Seems DC implied the USA is not sending cash to Ukraine. Is that true?

"The funding, coordinated with the U.S. Treasury Department through the World Bank, will go to the Ukraine government in tranches, beginning with a $3 billion disbursement in August, USAID said.
It follows previous transfers of $1.7 billion in July and $1.3 billion in June, USAID said. Washington has also provided billions of dollars in military and security support."
Re: Conspiracies
I guess it depends on who you ask?

$38 billion in military aid
$12 billion in US-distributed and controlled humanitarian aid
$15 billion in aid sent to the World Bank for use in assisting Ukrainian gov. domestic payments
$3 billion US operational expenses
That's mostly military aid and NOTHING sent directly to the Ukrainian gov.

Re: Conspiracies
I’ll say something like, anyone willing to try for any sort of anti-war anything, even if that means a willingness to be be skeptical of the prescribed war machine good-guy-bad-guy narratives that otherwise makes michhawk feel so warm and fuzzy?
Or sumptin.
Of course, the entire anti-war movement in Merica any more is pretty much just Qusdahl and like 6 other pink haired they/them types
Re: Conspiracies
Speaking of, anyone heard from Mich?
Cuz I also just saw one of the doods who tried to kidnap the governor just got like 16 years in the slammer

Re: Conspiracies
That's probably the best answer you could give, although:
A. As you say, they're mostly non-existent; and
B. They're technically bad guys, in that they're enabling and encouraging future bad actors with their Gnostic Dream World nonsense.
Of course, if they're the bad guys, then the Republican and Democratic establishments (including Sanders, AOC, etc.), who are knowingly and willingly feeding the Military-industrial complex, are the badder guys, and the populist right, which seeks to enable and encourage Putin and others for non-peacenik reasons are the baddest guys.
Like I said, no good guys. Just varying levels of shithead.

Re: Conspiracies
Good stuff, thanks DC.
Pretty sure we just got further in like 6 posts about conspiracies than we have in over 100 pages of the war thread.
I think i saw something about quite the drama within the PSL regarding whether to support the AOC progressive types after not being progressive enough about Ukraine.
Could I ask you to elaborate on point B?
And for that matter, could I ask for your insight, if you have any you’d like to offer, on any of the following:
- The maidan revolution
- The Minsk agreements
- The post-Soviet eastward expansion of nato
- The Obama era ideal of avoiding “provocation”
- the on again off again policy of providing arms to Ukraine since
- The ideology and political climate within Ukraine
- Why the anti-war demographic in Merica is so teeny, and how it might be able to grow
- why Mark Twain said “God invented war so that Americans could learn geography”
- Whatever else you might see as relevant
Please and thanks!

The US is so far in the red and inflation has been so bad, I can't see why we would defend sending anything to any country. Especially on the opposite side of the world

The only reason the US gets away with it is because we still create the world's reserve currency. That's likely going to end in the near future though.

Re: Conspiracies
Kind of like back in 2001 when some countries in the middle east wanted to change the petrodollar away from the American dollar. Then "coincidetally" 9/11 happened and we were able to send troops into the middle east and secure more oil fields
