Finding New Shit on TV

Can't be more boring than golf.

I used to watch quite a bit of golf on tv, mostly majors, starting on Thursday.

Now, I can see why the TV numbers are falling. Technology may be helping too much. I can just no longer justify, or even want to, spend so much time watching it when you can spend 5-10 minutes on Sunday catching up on important stuff, watch the 1 hour of drama on Sunday afternoon, and feel like you didn't miss anything significant.

Oh, and then add on the rich-guy drama that is the LIV vs. PGA. So boring. Next.

My enjoyment of TV golf is largely dependent on how well I know the course. I don't need to have played the course - I think I've only played a handful of courses on any of the major tours - but if I know it from having watched many past tournaments, it's a lot more fun.

I could see that, but I'll have to wait until they have a tournament at Minor Park in South KC before I get that experience.

If you assume Norton was channeling Elon, it/he is brilliant.

I guess I just assumed it was based on Elon in some shape or form. Was it not supposed to be?

There's an Edward Norton interview where he essentially says that the character is intended to be an amalgam of all of the Zuck/Elon types. You're supposed to be able to see all of them in the character.

If Johnson wrote it about Zuck as he said, the fact that you can see Elon in it so clearly is a story in itself for all those types.

Similar to us being about a year out from Don't Look Up, which McKay wrote pre-COVID about climate change deniers. The fact that it could have also very well been about the anti-vax base was telling.

Sure. Because the diseased thinking is the common thread to both of those issues, and so so so many more. It's really not all that easy to find any major issues that are not exacerbated by - if not caused ENTIRELY by - the pernicious and persistent diseased thinking.

The Last Of Us, the greatest narrative in a video game I’ve experienced, is releasing soon on HBO.

I would highly recommend playing the game through before watching if possible.

Grain of salt but there are 60 critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and it has a 97 percent.

i gotta admit.....I kinda like it. Predictable, cheesy, standard coming of age high school show...blah blah....but, entertaining enough to keep watching. Plus I like dark, even light hearted dark, and the Addams family has also been a family favorite.

I’ve enjoyed most other iterations I’d the Addams family, but after putting it on and even half paying attention, just couldn’t get into this one.

As far as I can tell, it’s less that classic quirky morbid slapstick Addams family humor, and more just another Disney teen show about high school love triangles and stuff.

And, the dialogue…it’s nonsensical. So many lines are less good lines and more some elaborate concoction of big fancy words they put together just cuz the words are big and fancy, with no regard for what the words actually mean.

…not that that means no one else is allowed to enjoy it.

And the lead chick does do a good job with the role

we couldn’t get past the awful casting for gomez and morticia…morticia alone was ok, but as much as i like Luis Guzman i just couldn’t believe the chemistry b/t he and Zeta Jones

We are watching it together as a family as well. Cheesy and corny but harmless and entertaining. The Wednesday character is well written for the tween show that it is and it's OK for my kids to watch it.

I need to finish up Jack Ryan on Amazon and then find a new show to watch.

I eventually grew to like the sequel, ( though I feel they certainly forced an agenda ) but they really could have solved the major issue I had with the sequel with including game play of a certain character. For me, it'd was like buying One on One Dr J v Larry Bird but you can only play as Dr J.

Oh yeah, I know it is well loved and I typically shop games off the lists of "best story" award winners but I just like a little more open world, do anything in any order style. The graphics were great and the story was great but the in between just was too limiting to me personally. Who knows, maybe I will rev it up and try it again as I think I still have it in my basement somewhere.

And there are definitely some things in Elden Ring that annoy the crap out of me. It wouldn't be on my list of most enjoyable games to play at all. But thank you for those lists, they were a nice trip down memory lane.
