Let ‘em look like amateurs.

I typically refrain from talking about refs, however, they were fucking atrocious last night!
Re: Officiating
After JWill hit the 3 to pull us ahead there was a five minute stretch of amateur hour which ultimately led to Self's T.

Re: Officiating
Exactly. 6-0 run which let them gain momentum and that was the beginning of the end
Re: Officiating
The refs in college hoops suck. In the Big 12, the ACC, the SEC. They just suck at far too high a rate to be acceptable. The ridiculous inconsistency is the problem. Touch fouls get called and then other times they let them play. The players and coaches have no chance to get used to it because it is different every time.digitalkookie wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 8:34 am I typically refrain from talking about refs, however, they were fucking atrocious last night!
And I felt the same way when we were winning 10 in a row. This isn't just me pissed off that KU is losing.
Re: Officiating
Amateur hour by Self getting a T there too.
Jump their ass after the game when it doesn't matter. To their face and/or in the press conference. Take your fine.
All he accomplished last night was effectively ending our chances to win. The calls didn't get better. Our players didn't magically improve.
Re: Officiating
I actually think the calls did get better after that.

Re: Officiating
it did suck that our taking a 2nd half lead seemed so quickly countered by a series of quick whistles.
but still, it was a 5 point game with 2 to go. I'm less concerned about the officiating, and more concerned about this team's lack of ability to make a play on either end when we need it.

It was a 5 point game for several exchanges too.
Dejuan's turnover was the lowlight but also two failed box outs.

It was 11-2 foul differential until they started calling Baylor fouls. I remember an incident in the 1984 OU game at AFH - the infamous one where Thompson hit a half court shot at the buzzer to send to OT and OU cutting the net even though they only tied for the conference title.
The refs called a foul on Tisdale and the PA guy goes “foul on Wayman Tisdale, his first, team….” Some guy sitting behind the bench screams “First one you called you bastards”. There was a split second silence so that it was fairly audible. Larry Brown even started laughing and one of the refs just smiled as he walked to his position.
