2023 NBA Mock Drafts
ESPN (Givony from Draft Express) updated today:
18. Gradey
53. McCullar
55. Wilson
The Athletic (Vecenie) updated his a week ago:
15. Gradey
59. Wilson
62. McCullar
I still say do whatever it takes to get Gradey to come back.

I'm all for getting Gradey back.
But I'm also all for Gradey lighting up this season enough to go lotto.

I think both of those things can be true in this era.
Whether he leaves now or in 2 years, barring injury, he's going first round.

yea.
also, is late second to undrafted any reason for Jalen and Mc to go?

Not if you ask me, bring 'em all back!
Just get Gradey back and one of the other two and we're hanging another banner.

NIL to get Gradey back ... $500K min?
Re: 2023 NBA Mock Drafts
I don't understand the McCullar projection. I think that will continue to fall unless we see some improvement in his 3pt shooting. He's good at defense on the college level, but NBA guards are a whole different beast. Can't teach size though. I'd enjoy another year of McCullar at KU. I wouldn't have said that 2 months ago.

McCullar's case is pretty much the same as Marcus Garrett's, and everyone here was wrong on that one (except me). And McC might actually have a chance to improve that jump shot.

Undrafted and played in 12 regular season games.
I definitely would've taken the under on that.
Glad he got a shot in the league. He's still hanging around their G league affiliate too, so maybe he will get another call up eventually. Either way, he's getting paid to play basketball, and that's a good thing.

Jalen's probably shown enough and he's gone.
Still holding out (slim) hope on the other two returning.
Re: 2023 NBA Mock Drafts
I feel like Dick is going to get a GM or two fired. Every year, the 5-15 range is >50% boom-or-bust types, who are as likely to be out of the league by the end of their rookie deals, as compared with deserving max or close-to-max extensions. Dick is virtually certain to be a useful NBA player, and reasonably likely to be a "starter on a contender" type, during his rookie deal.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 10:28 amUpdated after X-mas:CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 1:49 pm ESPN (Givony from Draft Express) updated today:

I'd have thought the same thing about Ben McLemore.
Outside of LeBron and KD types, there are no guarantees when it comes to the jump to the NBA. It is just a different beast.

Size matters. BBIQ matters.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 7:20 amI'd have thought the same thing about Ben McLemore.

(I’ll note also that Ben’s ended up making a nice career for himself.)
Re: 2023 NBA Mock Drafts
It's not a negative about Gradey, and is actually a good thing for KU.
With NIL, now guys like Gradey can be patient, if they want.
He could use a year being THE guy against college competition. Because once you make that jump you better be ready. Especially as a scorer, the size and athleticism he will have to score against will be an adjustment.

Mccullar is perfect for playing defense at the NBA level. And he's a good rebounder and passer. Someone will give him a chance, drafted or not
His shooting isn't thaatt bad. Its bad. But could improve. A lot better than Marcus garretts
