I think that 7'4" guy on Purdue would eat our lunch.

Probably.

And yet they are underdogs today against a team who we beat the shit out of a month ago. Indiana..a team who also had a big guy who should hypothetically eat our lunch.

It's a really weird year of CBB.

Virginia ranked #6 takes an L to Virginia Tech today.

By KU standards we have a weak team. But for CBB this season we have a chance. Have to play well when it matters most, and I think we can. Won't be the favorite, but absolutely a contender.

Great. Guess Cam Martin is going to get conference play minutes after all.

On the road in conference is a tough one everywhere. KU loses at ISU, Va lost a VaTech, Purdue losing at IU.

We are going to need to win four in a row and beat Texas or TCU on the road to have a shot.

At this point, we probably gonna have to sweep Texas.

So sounds like we all agree there is no reason to play pettiford moving forward?

If your boy keeps that up, yes.
But if he’s back going 1-6 with 2 turnovers and getting techs called on him for flopping, no.

We will still need Bobby on many nights due to foul trouble.

We don't have enough guys who stay out of foul trouble to just play our top 7. Plus, Gradey becomes ineffective with tired legs.

Has there ever been a season where all 5 of our starters averaged over 30min per game? We are close to it currently.

I think our ideal top 8 doesn’t include Bobby but yes, he should be available to run point if Harris gets in trouble.

Our bench should be:
Udeh
Rice
Yes

Bobby is not good.

Statistically he is similar to Yes, scoring less, with more assists, with a better FG %. He just isn’t the scorer Yes can be when he’s on, which has been rare, but it’s a gear Bobby doesn’t have.

Yes:
4 PPG, 1.2 RPG, .3 APG, 37% FG, 28% 3FG.

Bobby:
2.9 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 1.9 APG, 57% FG, 29% 3FG.

Give me the 8 last night.

Injuries may have pared the roster down for Bill. Seems like a lot of fans were yelling a few weeks back to get Udeh, Rice, and Yes more run.

All three of those guys have the highest ceilings for this season and beyond.
They all bring something to the starting lineup that we don't have.

Bobby and Clemence are conservative safe mid.
I like Zuby but I think you try to give Udeh all the extra clock KJ doesn't get.

Self got Dajuan about 4 minutes of game time rest spread out over each side of the under 8:00 timeout by playing KM at the 1 with Yes next to him. Dajuan then comes back in and was electric. Great move that should be done in every game.Going forward, need to keep trying KM and Yes in the backcourt even when Bobby comes back. Gives us a different wrinkle and the Bobby thing just hasn't really worked out.

Yes appears to have already taken a bunch of Bobby's minutes at the 2 next to Dajuan--which was a crap idea to begin with.

He is.
And no doubt Self likes Bobby.
But I think ( I hope ) Self knows that he's like Dejuan Harris Jr Jr with a bit better finishing skills around the rim -- and that only helps when spelling Dejuan.

Dejuan Harris Jr Jr…you mean there’s a Dejuan Harris III?

Bobby rarely was used as a 1:1 spell for Dajuan tho.

He was usually either at the 2, (thus both playing him outta position and also not spelling Dajuan)or came in at the 1 but also with Yes at the 2. (Who might be sort of out of position there too)

And I think Bobby, as a non-shooting guard, effective at the 1, even if Yes isn’t necessarily playing like a true PG.

Bobby at the 1 also means defenses don’t really have to adjust relative to whatever they were doing against Dajuan. Yes gives us a different look.

And fortunately we have Mc and Jalen who can bring the ball up too.

And yea, Udeh gives us legit size and athleticism for frontcourt depth.

And yea, Rice gives us legit size and athleticism for wing depth, rather than having to play 2 or 3 smalls.

I don't want Yes at the 1, he's shown no ability there.

He barely, if at all, played there last night. He looked good next to both KM and Harris.

If/when Pettiford spells Dajuan at the 1, I'd rather it be with KM, Dick, and Jalen all in the game.
