"They started against Kyler Murray and JJ Watts and a very similar team on the same field."

Wut.
Arizona was 31st in defensive PPG.
They kinda just stood there while Mahomes picked them apart.

Meanwhile, Kyler regressed and Hurts became a MVP candidate.

Arizona had the misfortune of having its season gutted by KC in game one. Injuries and discord torched them later. They were a team built on a running QB and a pass rush.

Sorry, I cannot be convinced that Zona was ever in Philly's stratosphere.
We're talking a 14-3 team, that lost a couple games when their starting QB was out, vs a 4-13 team that just kinda sucked.

Roster from one to 53 the Eagles are the better team but in two key areas, HC and QB the Chiefs are better. That to me will be the difference.

You give me 15 with two weeks of rest and Reid getting the same amount of time to scheme I’ll take that anytime against anyone.

Unless it's Tom Brady and Carl Cheffers.

Cheffers steals joy. That is his jam.

KC has been improving late. Philly regressed a little. The SF game was not much of a yardstick.

I'm very confident in the Chiefs. The best QB the Eagles have played was Dak Prescott. Chiefs much more battle-tested with facing Allen, Burrow twice, Herbert twice, Lawrence twice and even Tom Brady.

Chiefs by 10.

Best Team vs. Best QB.

One game scenario, coin flip. But, let's hope it doesn't come down to a coin flip.

Have the Chiefs played a dude like Hurts this season?
Sparko was in the neighborhood with Kyler Murray but he just fell off a cliff.
Maybe Josh Allen is the closest but he's a different kind of runner.

Probably not this year. But they've played Lamar a few times over the years who is a better Hurts and they've had good success against him.

I do wonder if Andy will deviate from his automatic "IF win toss THEN defer" programming for this one. I think there is a material advantage to playing the Eagles from ahead. You want them pressed into throwing...especially because I'm not entirely convinced Hurts is close to healthy.

He's such a creature of habit. Would love for it to happen, but don't think it will. :(

Too baked into what we do.
You kick to them and see what our defense can do.
Put the pressure immediately on a quarterback who hasn't been there.

The dream is a turnover on the first drive.

I think with Mahomes - just knowing you have the chance to dictate the end of the first half and have the chance of doubling up score right when you come out of halftime is an advantage.

I wouldn't put it past Mahomes to have a better year than he did last season though.

My personal feeling is that the advantage of (most likely) making Philadelphia play from behind from the first time they have the ball outweighs the (i) (not real) advantage of doing things the way you always do them, and (ii) (real) advantage of (possibly?) controlling whether you can go two-for-one around halftime.

Coaches - NFL coaches in particular - make so many strategic errors out of the (understandable but misguided) need to maintain tactical control.

Nothing is more emblematic of this - or more specific to Andy's particular susceptibility to this - than burning timeouts to keep like a 3rd and 8 from becoming a 3rd and 13 by way of a delay of game penalty.

Chris Jones is gonna strip sack Jalen Hurts on the second play of the game and McKinnon will take a 28 yard screen to the house on the following drive.

That is my personal feeling.

From your lips to God's ears. I get $820 if there is a TD in the first minute of the game.

I do wonder - and lord knows you can't put this in a binder or on film - if the Chiefs will be pretty aggressive with Hurts early on. His shoulder really hasn't been tested all that much since he returned. Do we know if he can really throw? The game will be over in a hot hurry if he can't.
