Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Following the @OU game im still convinced there is no reason pettiford should be an active part of the rotation. But, it will be nice to get him healthy and have him available as emergency depth

McCullar turns it over a LOT when trying to initiate when playing the 2...
But he seems rock solid when he's at the 1.

Developing any kind of bench like exponentially increases the probability of a Final Four for this team. The injuries may have saved Bill from himself.

We don't miss Bobby and Zach at all.

I think that's a humongous part of the better play by Udeh, Yes, and Rice.

Those 3 guys probably fucked up more than anyone off the bench and were almost always immediately yanked for it. Meanwhile guys like Bobby and Zuby were pretty consistent and assignment sound but didn't make us any better.

for this roster tho, it's not simply developing a bench, but also having an actual big in the paint.

and I'd maybe say also having a scoring threat at the 1, but Dajuan's showing he can be a threat too.

MJ's a big deal, too. They're all 3 quite different from any of the starters.

love how the bench is developing, this team will not be the same team in March than it was to start the season. HCBS will be able to show options that will make opponent scouting difficult. Udeh will be the reincarnation to DMac - Good DMac...

Gotta hope Self can convince Rice this offseason that he will be sure to make an impact in the future.

Yea.

We’re bringing in 3 new Rice-like guards too.

My comment was more questioning whether it’s really worth playing Bobby much, and having him be the first guard off the bench, and stuff

Good Yesufu is helpful in a way we don't really have and actually need - but you get good Yesufu 1 out of 5 games.

Pettiford is better for spelling Dejuan.

Broadly, I think you're right. While Yesufu comes in for Harris sometimes, the role he is asked to play is very different from Harris' role. Pettiford's play style is closer.

I still don't like either of our backup lead guard options - I still think Yesufu is several inches too short for his game, and Pettiford makes too many boneheaded plays for what else he brings to the table.

Yea, Bobby has a streak going of checking in and promptly turning it over

Both he and Yes are prone to bonehead plays. But Yes at least can get going with some buckets sometimes and some OMG athletic moments.

And considering Yes might be a better fit at the 1/lone small even if not otherwise much of a pg, and Mc‘s above average pg skills for a wing, and Jalen’s above average handles too…it just seemed like that couple game stretch of Yes spelling Dajuan was a more dynamic option than just hoping Bobby doesn’t turn it over.

Of course, now that I’m calling out Bobby, he’ll prob turn a corner and look all-conference and illy will rub these posts in my face for the next ever.

Bobby definitely deserves most of the blame for slowing down/allowing himself to be trapped on that first turnover but Wilson kinda just left him isolated out there without coming back on the sideline.

Dixon was wise to see that opportunity with Bobby checking in and made a smart call to double him early.
