Super Bowl LVII

Post by KUTradition »

needs its own thread, imo

always lots of fun stories and back stories…the Kelce bros are obviously a top one this year, as well as two QBs of color squaring off

but, i personally liked this one:

The ‘Sod God’: 90-year-old groundskeeper has worked every Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl after a 50-year drought, but a piece of Kansas City has been present in the Big Game ever since.

Come Sunday, George Toma, affectionately known as the ‘Sod God’ will be working his 54th Super Bowl. The day marks another milestone – his 91st birthday – and he says he wouldn’t have it any other way…

I don't bet big. These are my wagers....

I bet the Chiefs when they were +470 to win the Super Bowl = $117 payout.
I bet any player to return a punt/kick for a TD at +1200 = $260 payout.
I bet points to be scored in the first minute of the game at +4000 = $820 payout.
I bet Mahomes game MVP +135 = $51.05 payout.

I have 4 $10 squares.

I'm surprised that you can't bet on whether or not a fan will run on the field.

5 questions....

1. Where are you watching the game?

2. What are you planning to eat/drink?

3. If you were 100% guaranteed a Chiefs win AND a Chiefs win in next year's Super Bowl if you broke your pinky finger on your non-dominate hand today - would you do it?

4. If Hurts gets injured in the first quarter and doesn't return to the game, and the Eagles lose by 7 or less, do you think Eagles fans would have a legitimate argument if they said they felt the Eagles would have won if he didn't get injured?

5. On a scale of 1-99 (1 being you would rather eat glass and 99 being the most excited you could possibly be) how excited are you for Rihanna's performance at Halftime?

I assume you're flying somewhere. Hopefully somewhere good.
Are you intentionally going to be there for the length of the entire game? God forbid you are surrounded by Eagles fans - unless of course the Chiefs are crushing and you have a shit eating grin on your face.

Mexico early tomorrow.
If it’s full of Eagles fans and they’re obnoxious I’ll watch second half in the room.

Got my VPN ready so I can watch KU OSU Tuesday.

1. Home. Unless I change my mind and go to a nearby sports bar - but probably not. Weather is nice here so I am at least going to go out and take a long walk before the game.
2. Just ordered my food for delivery later. Burger. Fries. Vesuvio potatoes. Pizza with Bacon, Onions, Garlic.
3. No.
4. Yes, no, maybe. Hopefully he stays healthy - and I hope the Chiefs beat the Eagles by anywhere from 1 to 100 points.

1. I'm not sure I will. It's supposed to be 55 and sunny today. I got so much shit that needs done to get ready for Spring time. I may replay it tonight instead.

2. food and beverage.

3. nope, my hands are my money makers.

4. could be said about every injury in any event ever. In 2 weeks no one will give a shit either way. Winner will be remembered only outside of a select few fan bases.

1. Super Bowl party at a friend's house

2. Whatever they are serving

3. Yes. The only finger I wouldn't give for that is my left thumb as it is the only finger I haven't broken at least once yet.

4. "We would've if..." arguments are dumb. The game would have been totally different as the Chiefs also did not prepare for the backup QB.

5. Whatever number applies to complete indifference. I dont care about the halftime show at all. I can't name one Rihanna song and will use the break to talk to friends, eat, drink, take a piss etc...

I actually am interested in how the halftime show is. Not really because of Rihanna, but because of Apple. Pepsi was such a B-List sponsor for that kind of thing.

1. From my Lane Comfort King
2. Homemade chili and a frosty mug of beer.
3. Ain't no guarantees. May happen anyway with my pinky in tact.
4. Injured starting QB is generally a legitimate excuse for any team.
5. 20 don't really care about Rihanna. Maybe 60 about 15 years ago.
