Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
Don’t think they’ll play side by side. But each to play 20 minutes per game and stay fresh. That’s a nasty rotation at the 5 spot.

Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
If we lose KM and JW then KJ may be our best option at the 4.
Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
Seems to me like KJ is flashing something new each week. I fully expect that, by next November, he will be more than capable of playing the Julian Wright/Josh Jackson role. Will he be a killer like Marcus Morris or, to a lesser extent, Thomas Robinson? I wouldn’t count on it…but I think he will be very capable of playing the four.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 12:01 pm I worry about KJ as a 4 next to a BIG. There will be an adjustment because he is a non threat outside of 10ft.
Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
It seems like the game is more and more positionless, and/or Self is most likely to just put the 5 best out there and adjust to the personnel.
And yea, I think KJ’s shown more than enough to be able to contribute as a “4”/next to another big, especially with another season of reps about it.
But yea, if KJ wanted to show up next year with a jumper, that would be great too

Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
I kinda wanna see KJ and Earnest play together. At least for a little while. Where's Bill's suggestion box?
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
If we lose GD JW and KM...then we will be very limited shooting wise next season. That could (will) mean DH KJ and Udeh out there together for majorities of games.ousdahl wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 12:50 pm It seems like the game is more and more positionless, and/or Self is most likely to just put the 5 best out there and adjust to the personnel.

But KJ is a hard worker, so maybe he will be at least somewhat capable of at least attempting 3s.
Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
We got three good guards coming in and I’m sure a transfer.
Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
If McCullar is back, a starting lineup including Juan, McCullar, KJ, and Udeh may be the worst shooting team in the three point era.
Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
Could Cuffe be a sleeper at guard next year? Hard to have an opinion about him having seen so little of him on the floor.
Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
Maybe we should start an NIL gofundme to keep Gradey.
Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
I think Cuffe is happy to be enjoying his time at KU as a member of the team. I see almost no path to him being a regular member of the rotation with the incoming class of guards and DH Yes BP all ahead of him.
Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
There will be a few transfers after the season is over...I'd be surprised if Cuffe isn't one of them.

Cuffe could be a sleeper. Or a transfer. He reminds me a ton of Elijah Johnson. Who barely played early in his career, needed time to develop, and people thought would transfer

I think ejiafor is going to be really good too. Maybe as soon as next year. Think he's too good to not back up udeh, and KJ mainly plays the 4 next year
Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
Except Cuffe looks like he is about 5'10 rather than 6'2.randylahey wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 7:22 pm Cuffe could be a sleeper. Or a transfer. He reminds me a ton of Elijah Johnson. Who barely played early in his career, needed time to develop, and people thought would transfer

Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
I thought he looked every bit of 6'2 at the game i was at earlier this year. He did a pretty solid shoot around/work out before the game. Shot a lot of 3s. His shot looks decent. The mechanics aren't bad, he could be a decent shooter. He's super athleticBasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 7:25 pmExcept Cuffe looks like he is about 5'10 rather than 6'2.randylahey wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 7:22 pm Cuffe could be a sleeper. Could he transfer? Yeah of course. But im not writing him off yet. He could be a good player here at KU still
Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
I am hoping our recruiting picks up significantly. If we start having NBA caliber point guards again then he's just not going to be talented enough to hold those guys off. Not with DH already here and ahead of him.
Re: Welcome Ernest Udeh
In 99's head... Bill has been working one on one with Udeh all week. Move the feet, play defense, learn how not to foul. Udeh has a coming out party today.
Defense. Rebounds.
