I think one thing that is really important and really overlooked about his personal background is the specific nature of his dad's baseball career. He was a back-of-the-bullpen guy. A dime a dozen. I believe a lot of that comes from him growing up in a major league ball club locker room and his pops being an OG type of player.
And yet he hung on for parts of 11 seasons - in exactly three of which he had an ERA better than league average.
To accomplish that, you have to be a GREAT clubhouse guy - great teammate, no bullshit, hard worker.
Combine that mentality and experience, but put it in a superstar's body...and you get Patrick Mahomes.
