If Wilson has a game like this v a team that is feeling it, we are toast.
We have 4 guys who average 10pts+ per night. That's more guys than Purdue has.

The Big 12 is an outlier league with regard to physical play limiting shots. KU will be fine. But that said TCU played its best game in Lawrence. The tournament is about not letting a team peak on you.

Got some really solid minutes out of Udeh again tonight. Bobby and Yes - not so much.

That was one of the ugliest games I've seen in a while.

And not in a tough grind it out way.

Just two really good teams both playing really really bad ball.

Glad we won.

You guys are starting to believe it too. I can feel it.

The espn talking heads believe now too.
Best resume in the country at least. They are a strong contender with some warts but they can beat anyone if they are dialed in on defense.

Agree mostly.
We had some good defensive stops at the end.

I’m hopeful to eat crow and this team is absolutely tough but it’s not a top 10 ( or maybe just barely ) Self team to me and so while the tournament is a crap shoot, I feel less confident than I have in the past.
KU is 2-0 vs. Ranked teams when Wilson goes for 5 or less.

It's not a Top 10 Self team on offense but it doesn't need to be this season. They are a great defensive team and a Top 5 Self team in terms of grinding and competing, which I consider more important at tourney than having more future NBA dudes.

Both teams played serious defense. We toughed it out.

A hard fought win on the road.

JWil sucked.
KJ sucked
Gradey couldn't hit shit second half
Juan couldn't score

Beat ranked team on the road.

That's awesome.

The whole Juan-and-KMac-don't-switch thing the last game and a half is super effective

We have 4 guys who average 10pts+ per night. That's more guys than Purdue has.
They also have the leader for NPOY.
We would have some major issues guarding him.

And here’s the point—Purdue has a half court post game—we won’t have one this season. If we are struggling in transition or a team can stop us, we don’t have answers like we have with so many other Self teams in the past.

It wasn't all bad. Dick shot well in first half. I thought McMullar played one if his better games.

But the missed layups....the passes that hit the defenders....the poor shot selection....

Top 5 in terms of grinding and competing?

Not sure what this means except that we can’t blow teams out.

08 could grind and compete.
10, 11 and 12.
16, 17, 18.
20, 22.

I’d mention 07 and 09 too. They just weren’t there in established talent yet. Hell 13 was also pretty grindy — that was a great defensive team.

Makes it tougher for the opponent to exploit favorable matchups.

I think switching everything makes guys like Dick look worse than they are.

The articulated Jamie Dixon giant paper doll backdrop defense. I remember Phog using it against Iba in a similar game in Municipal Auditorium. After he spray painted the floor light light violet and hired homeless refs.
