I believe a lot of that comes from him growing up in a major league ball club locker room and his pops being an OG type of player.
I think one thing that is really important and really overlooked about his personal background is the specific nature of his dad's baseball career. He was a back-of-the-bullpen guy. A dime a dozen. Not, in the context of the world's greatest players, an especially talented or notable one.

And yet he hung on for parts of 11 seasons - in exactly three of which he had an ERA better than league average.

To accomplish that, you have to be a GREAT clubhouse guy - great teammate, no bullshit, hard worker.

Combine that mentality and experience, but put it in a superstar's body...and you get Patrick Mahomes.

super cool ski goggles at the parade....

this is going to be a hugely unpopular opinion on this particular site.

Mahomes is one hell of an athlete and an amazingly talented QB.

He's also kind of a douchebag.

The beer spray protection goggles. Mahomes is a pretty decent person who will begin to transform due to constant adulation and handlers unless he is supremely on guard. I think he saw the margins of the sport enough to keep himself humble though as Fish and others have mentioned. We destroy as fans that thing we love and he must keep some perspective and distance.

This is going to be a hugely unpopular analogy.
Mahomes is kind of a douchebag sort of like how Gradey is kind of a Dookie.

I think he likes to have a lot of fun and is younger so yea, I’d probably not like him, but I don’t think he’s a douche, even trying to remove myself from fandom.

the only qbs i “don’t like” but respect their talents are brady and rodgers

i’m trying to think back, and other than elway and maaaaybe aikman, i don’t know that there are many. plenty of guys in the other “skill” positions, on both sides of the ball, that would fall into this category though
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Rothlisberger and Watson I don’t like.
I really disliked Brady but you have to respect the hell out of him.

Crazy me says.....
I almost feel bad for Jackson - in that I think he may be struggling with his sexuality.
Maybe its just me but it seems the woman isn't upset/offended in the video and I have to question why she is seemingly alone with him in what appears to be her office.
