Picking out the differences between you and the person you are speaking to and mentally noting it before reacting to them.

For me, that's replacing 'unconscious bias' with 'conscious bias'.

Be thoughtful. Be respectful. Value people for what they bring to the table.
Don't intentionally single people out before you do that.

is it conscious or unconscious bias for me to look as a white chick and think, "I bet you're into pumpkin spice lattes and complaining about the other chicks at work..."

Unconscious bias according to what I learned yesterday.
We had to make a hypothetical team of five people from some cards with a person's photo and their three attributes.
There was a dude named Atchison who was wearing a blue oxford with the top two buttons unbuttoned and his first attribute was that he drove a hummer.

He didn't make the cut.

"this guy looks like he'd be good at basketball, and at playing bass guitar, and seems disproportionately more likely to be imprisoned at some point in his life..."

you could decipher that just by looking at his wingspan??

Fuck em. You're a tax payer. This is America. Blow that snow wherever you want.

I didn't realize it's apparently a no no to only shovel your wife's half of the driveway (actually her 3rd since we have a 3 car garage/driveway and she parks in the single door side)....still baffled why I need to shovel my part of the driveway when my SUV will drive right over it.

That's exactly what they do. My wife got stuck in their giant mountain in front of my driveway.

No snowblowing into the street. However, you are welcome to blow into the neighbor’s yard. Never blow onto a house or car.

Wait, you can blow your own snow into a neighbors yard?
I dunno if that's kosher.

Houses are pretty close here. Like between the houses is a one lane driveway and a 8 foot strip of the neighbor’s grass. So you would blow the snow off your driveway and onto the neighbors grass. What you should not do, let’s blow that snow at the neighbors house or windows… Got to keep it low so you don’t knock out a window or damage a house. Out in front of the houses, You blow the snow in the direction of the wind. It is windy here often. Sometimes that is into the neighbor’s front yard.

Friday night was out at a local bar.
We start chatting with a fella named Bill who was born and raised in Maine.
Anyways, basketball comes up, I think we were talking Celtics, and he says,
"How do I put this the right way?"

Pauses.

"The blacks ruined basketball."

Whoa.
"Bill, you had to think about what to say, and THAT'S what you came up with?"

Booked a flight a while ago to Denver.
Thought I got a great aisle seat, towards the middle of the airplane.
Turns out the pooper is in the middle of this one.
And someone just pooped.
