I'm just going to say that I suspect Self doesn't give a shit about winning another Big 12 COY trophy. It's a nice runner up trophy for any coach who isn't Bill Self and may have tied KU for conference champ or finished a surprising 3rd or even 7th in conference in Billy Gillespie's case. And history hasn't been very kind to most of the coaches who won the award who aren't named Bill Self.

Bill Self is the best and most accomplished coach in Big 12 history regardless of sport, and no one else is close. Every year Self proves he is one of the best coaches to ever coach a men's basketball team in the country, let alone the Big 12. All that's left of any consequence is how many conference championships and NCAA championships does he win before he retires.

He envisioned years of success for hisself only to find that without Bill Self's recruits, sustained success just wasn't in his future. Luckily his ouster and downward spiral was temporarily stopped when he was picked up by a second tier basketball program that had been recently resurrected by Boob Huggins before Huggins was offered a better job. But Bruce again couldn't sustain meaningful success and was once again infected with Self Derangement Syndrome and left jobless.
