however, overall as a basketball program they are not.
i would say relevant, to me, would be a top 25 program in the last 10 years or so.

ksu is not that.

they were a top 7 seed ( rough estimate of top 25 i.e. 4 * 7 = 28 ) twice in the last 10 years. in those two years they won a share of the b12. both those years they finished in the top 25 - 12th and 18th - ( though not in kenpom ) also in both those years they lost in the first round to 13 seeds.

they have one e8 in the last 10 years because they got to play no. 16 UMBC in the second round.

they have done nothing notable.

They probably hang a banner in Hooterville for 3rd place finishes so I can see where there would be some local relevance.

The local Longhorn Steakhouse will probably have a $3 off their most expensive steak to commemorate the big accomplishment. The Hooterville Brewery will have a $3 draw happy hour.
