So one of the very first games.
Utah State and Mizzou and West Virginia and Maryland will be going on.

I’m just still flabbergasted at the process of this committee. Absurd.

I don't really mind our bracket. UCLA would be a bitch, but by that point, it should be hard.

Also, CBS Sports thinks the NCAA fucked us on purpose.

After Kansas thumbed its nose at the NCAA throughout the FBI case investigating the program and corruption within college basketball, which was adjudicated before the season with mostly meaningless penalties, it doesn't feel like too much of a stretch here to say the committee wasn't incentivized to go out of its way to award the reigning champion Kansas Jayhawks.

If Kenpom and Barrtorvik do anything for you ( they do for a lot of people ) then we have the toughest 2, 3, 4 and 5.

All top 5 seeds are in the top 11 in Kenpom.

2-5 seeds are all ranked ahead of us on Barttorvik and are all top 9.

Marquette as a 2, Tennessee as a 4 with no PG.
It's an insanely easy path. Trying to fill out a pool now and pick mid-range teams with upset potential there. Got nothing.

Hard to pick many upsets but it feels like another year where a lot of Top 4 seeds fail to make the Sweet Sixteen. If for no other reason than that it seems to alternate between heavy years and light years and we're due for a heavy year.

Only 6 of the 16 top 4 seeds failed to make it last year.
9 failed in 2021.
only 2 failed in 2019
9 failed in 2018
only 4 failed in 2017

Brackets will be a total crap shoot again.

This is the problem I'm having. I filled out my 5-minute-bracket and end up with UCLA vs Arizona. That doesn't seem right. Also had Duke in the final 4. That bracket is so weak. Also don't really believe in Houston.

But the big thing this year is parity, unlike any other year. It's a product of the Covid year, so many less-talented teams have ridiculous experience. So there's going to be a lot of massive upsets. But I can't figure out where they are.

I'd like to play them and beat them but I would enjoy if they lost to Arkansas too.
Even though it's more pathetic than funny, I can't help but laugh that Illness fans are still bitter at/with Self 20+ years later.
Every time someone says something like fuck Bill Self or Kansas sucks I ask them if they would leave their current job for a better job and more money and/or if Kansas sucks what does Illinois do - and they get tongue tied but end up saying something to the effect that Kansas isn't/wasn't a better job and Illinois didn't lose in the ___ round to _____________.
Fuck 'em all.
P.S. Biggest laugh I had regarding Illness fans was back in 05. Walking the streets of Chicago I saw a ton of people wearing Illness shit. Would say to some of them something like this - Gee, that hat/shirt/whatever looks brand new. I take it you weren't an Illini fan until this week. Most responded with a blah blah blah blah blah. Probably the most pleasurable tournament game for me other than a KU win was when the Illness lost to UNC.

Anyways.....

Anybody else realize both St. Marys and Iona are the Gaels?

Which animals might/will KU play against to get to the Final Four? Bison, Razorbacks, Rams, Huskies, Horned Frogs, Wolf Pack, Antelopes, Wildcats, Broncos, Bruins, Bull Dogs?

So about those teams and other things..

A&M threw a HUGE fit last year. Bet that factored in to a lower seed.
Kansas still fighting NCAA, I'm sure that's a factor.
Chris Reynolds, the dweeb chair of the committee was on Indiana when KU beat them in 1993 to go to Final 4. Sure that didn't have any factor. Sigh....
