Charleston. They have players from all over. A starter for them is from Bethel College in Kansas, where I played football, so that’s cool. They’re a fun team too. Active, go 10 deep, shoot 3s and they were 26-3 this season.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 7:07 am You must choose one team to root for in the tournament other than KU.
Who do you choose?
For me, this morning I decided I am a Marquette fan. That may change 10 seconds from now.

Just looked and learned they have players from Australia, Croatia, and Senegal.
My hope is they play Bama and beat them.

Team arrived in Des Moines. Self already there. Did not travel with team.
Have a feeling he won’t coach Thursday. Maybe Saturday.

For some reason I get the strong feeling that Coach Self won't be on the sideline for the entire tournament...hope I'm wrong. He's been at the last couple of practices and I'm sure he'll continue to do so as long as he feels OK, but it just seems like coaching during the games might be too much too soon.

He played at Duke.
His HS coaches brother was the Illinois coach. Illini fans wanted him to go to Illinois.
He's a Jew.

time to buck the trend
https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2 ... mpionship/
Now here comes Kansas, hurled atop the roughhouse West Region and told to function as best it can. It will try to repeat as men’s national champion, a faint prospect the nation barely discussed during a regular season muddled beyond muddled. Maybe the nation has given up on such matters. Maybe the nation should.
It’s not just that only two programs have repeated in the past 50 years — Duke in 1992 and Florida in 2007. It’s that the past 14 defending champions haven’t reached the Final Four or even the Elite Eight, so nobody has gotten to yak much about the idea...

The big difference, of course, is that both of those teams returned everybody.KUTradition wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 12:22 pm time to buck the trend

We returned 2 of our top 7 guys in terms of minutes.

Norm confirmed that both KM and GD are ready to roll (i didn’t realize Gradey tweaked his back in the opening minutes against tejas)

I'm running a pool at work. So far.... About 40 entries. Pretty even Champion picks between KU, Houston, and Bama. Then at least 3 with the Zags and 3 with UCLA.
Only teams that just one person has/have are Purdue, Baylor (Scott Drew Sucks), Marquette, and Texas.

seems a lot of “experts” are picking tejas…i’d wager their recent successes over KU have a bit to do with that

In a single-game elimination situation, I like Texas, and I wouldn't want to play them again.KUTradition wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 4:13 pm seems a lot of “experts” are picking tejas…i’d wager their recent successes over KU have a bit to do with that
They haven't proven, though, that they can put together a string of games against high-quality opponents.
Color me dubious.

texas finished the b12's strongest team. i can see why they'd be favored by many to win it all. really good guards are always a leading indicator.

Re: March Madness 23
both have good guards, texas also has a strong paint presence. baylor, not so much. by the way, i'd take texas's guards over baylor's. granted, the difference is filament thin.
