It works a lot better in this five out offensive plan. Maybe a little more room for guys to roll and maneuver will help this lineup out. Not to mention Devonte Graham Facetiming them before every game to tell them "I don't care what coach says, shoot the damn open three!"

Graham is the leader of this team and he isn't even here any more. I hope I can make it to his ceremony to hang his jersey in the rafters. That kid freaking loves KU.

Ya, not sure I could love Graham anymore, but what a sad statement on the current team members that they have to get a former player on FaceTime to get a leader.

Sadly number 1 reason and fear when Self caved. Devonte and those before were all about the culture that Self and Staff have created class after class. You aren’t getting that with a space cadet senior, transfers and freshmen.

Can’t disagree with this. Also doesn’t help that one of the transfers pretty much got away with popping a Self recruit in the face (and in so doing, neutering that guy as a possible leader).

There’s a foundation with Dotson and Garrett and McCormack. Those guys should all be around for the next loaded team (2020-21), assuming recruiting is stabilized and producing lottery picks again.

Lightfoot was never going to be a leader of this team. Let's just nip that in the butt right here.

I think you are leaving out who I think is just itching to become a leader, Ochai.

He is already becoming a leader on this team. All game on Saturday I was amazed at how many times he was the guy calling the team together for huddles and yelling at guys to move them where they should be. If we can get Agbaji and Dotson to fully embrace that role for KU this year I think we are in good hands. And if Self can keep tweaking the offense to get guys space and looks then we still have a shot at this season's goals. I think we're more vulnerable than I expected at the beginning of the year but we're still capable. Just more reliant on a good draw of match ups and a few upsets to beefy teams that could bully us in the tourney.

If KU can add Matthew Hurt to the roster for next season and everyone but Dok and Dedric return, then we are pretty loaded for next season. Add Cassius Stanley as well and KU is looking really good.

NBA Draft College Coaches Poll: What’s going on with Quentin Grimes at Kansas?

https://theathletic.com/826728/2019/03/ ... at-kansas/
Fifth Coach

“I’m not in love with Grimes. He was never a tough kid, and college basketball is hard. He’s lost confidence. [Ochai] Agbaji might be a better prospect than he is. Look through the years. Your guard play was Frank Mason and Devonte Graham. Has Grimes been relegated to Wayne Selden? Where you gotta be a shot-maker, defend. Has he been relegated to that?

“He’s not a super shot-creator, doesn’t have a lot of wiggle at 6-5. He’s athletic enough to finish at the rim, but he hasn’t been consistent from 3. Which is supposed to be his thing. So now you couple in that he’s playing scared and turning the ball over, it’s easy to put Agbaji in. He just fits in. He’ll make trash plays, he guards the shit out of the other team’s best player. You already got Lawson on the floor, you got Vick on the floor. You don’t need Grimes right now.

“Easily, I would transfer. He’d thrive at, like, a Nebraska. Losing James Palmer, losing Glynn Watson.”

Subscribe for a guy who says Grimes' "thing" was supposed to be his 3 point shooting and he is not needed because Vick is apparently on the floor?

Guy likes the Nebraska transfer because of what AWIII did out of Kansas.
But I think Grimes is best served to come back for his sophomore year and play alongside Ochai.

Takes a lot of time to gather six sources' comments. I certainly agree that there should have been an explanatory note about the Vick references.

You don't have to squint too hard to see a Dotson/Grimes/Agbaji (with Garrett behind) backcourt being ferocious.

That's my dream ( Garrett backing up both Grimes and Ochai ).
And Isaac McBride being more competent than Charlie Moore.
And also Dok saying, 'what the hell, i'm still young, and probably won't get drafted,' and returning.

I'd take Dok returning over anyone other than Dotson. Even Dedric.

Dotson/McBride/Charlie
Ochai/Garrett/Braun
Grimes/Garrett/Braun
Hurt/Lightfoot/KJ
Dok/McCormack/Lightfoot

Not wildly out of possibility.
