what if KJ remains the starting center, and still plays the majority of his minutes at the 5?
Then Udeh hasn't made the improvements I'm anticipating.

yea, there's that.

But I could see Udeh still getting like 25 minutes a game, with like 15-20 as a backup/situational 5, and another 5-10 alongside KJ who slides over for a few.

cuz, yea, I agree that Big Ern should take a big leap this offseason, and look like the next great KU center next year.

But, there's also this concern of "2 bigs," and, while KJ's not really a true big, he's also not really a true wing, either. And if, he's playing alongside another big, are there floor spacing issues? Isn't pretty much everything KJ does on offense done inside the free throw line?

Either that or KJ hasn't.
KJ was a far better 5 than Udeh this past year. I would expect him to be a slightly better 5 than Udeh next year. But to have our best players on the floor we need KJ to improve enough to be able to play the 4.
If he hasn't, I think another year of KJ at the 5 might happen.

Yes, but it's also not just about being better in a vacuum. Sometimes it's who's better at the specific things you need.

I agree with what you're saying but I expect Udeh to be a better rim runner, rim protector, and rebounder. And we need those things from the 5. And as you're alluding to. Hopefully KJ is working on the things that allow him to play the perimeter more (shooting, ballhandling, etc.).

I think for KJ to play large minutes at the 4 he’s gonna have to show he can shoot it a little more, or all three guards that play along side him will have to be deep threats. What’s really curious to me is what happens if Udeh improves a ton and KJ tops out at what he was last year? Is there a possibility KJ actually goes from starter to losing minutes? Just conversation not prediction.

all KJ needs is to be dependable from 15’

If Dajuan, KJ, and Ernest are three of your starting five, then you better hope to Gawd that whoever is starting on the wings are absolute snipers...which Chris Johnson & Elmarko Jackson are not. Calling all shooters in the portal...

I cant see a scenario where that happens. Self always tweaks his system so that his best players are playing to their strengths, and the team plays best. For kj, udeh, and zuby also, to all be limited to playing the 5 next season, it means we brought in several big time transfers to play the 3/4 spots next season

that kind that offers the only (speculative) info on who the KU staff might be targeting in the portal?

i’m kinda surprised there isn’t more out there…even if just rumor. though, i absolutely may not be looking in the right place(s)

Oh I missed that. I thought you were posting some rumor about how MJ had one foot out the door his entire time in Lawrence. The wtf comment is cuz that website format looks tiggerboredy. Like how far do I gotta scroll up to get to the op?

Good find tho regardless, I’ll take all the KU message boreds I can get

Lol. Its an obvious joke. So several years back Greg Marshall was still coaching wsu. And that literally happened.

So a guy named Austin reeves started his career at wsu, fucked Greg marshalls daughter, and was later forced to transfer when Marshall got upset and ran him off

Reeves ended up at OU, is now on the Lakers playing good ball
