Paraphrased. "I took some time to relax where I woke up and had breakfast, go for a walk and maybe watch some TV. Didn't work for me. Need to be living in the portal right now."
“I don’t remember anything he said, but it was a very memorable speech.” Julian Wright on a speech Michael Jordan gave to a group he was in

We gotta get some work done in the portal.
We need some height on the perimeter that can shoot.

Hoosiers reference!
"I'll make the shot".
Jalen Wilson said we're guarding em ( not fouling ).

Thanks JWill.

He's talking to you, Hunter Dickinson.

Great news for KU hoops. Should be an interesting fee months with the portal. Lots of opportunities to get meaningful minutes at an elite program with a HoF coach. Come on down.

The portal was largely moot last year after the Remy gem of 2021-2. Need to always be aggressive with a HoF coach. Kevin was great, but did not replace lost points at multiple positions.

McCullar was just as successful of a transfer as Remy...just in different ways.

Player A: 10.7 PPG, 7 RPG, 2.4 APG, 2 SPG, .7 BPG, 44.4% FG, 1st team B12 defense
Player B: 8.6 PPG, 3 RPG, 2.5 APG, .6 SPG, .1 BPG, 46.2% FG.

I think McCullar was significantly more impactful (in the aggregate) than Remy, simply because he was significantly more available. Correlated, I think it’s clear that the whole “KU wasn’t the best team last year” might not really be accurate; with Remy performing as he did in March/April all year, I think we may well have ended up the statistical #1.

March/April:

9 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 2.2 APG, .7 SPG, .2 BPG, FG 48%
So slightly better.

Next up it'll be just the B12 tournament and NCAA tournament minus the Nova game.

I think this is a little reductive. If Remy had been himself for longer, then his role (and minutes) would have reflected it (as would our season-long stats).

I suppose so.

I lean closer to Vernon's hot takes here -- I just don't think he was effective in our system and fought the man a bit which ended up in reduced minutes.
I didn't like his 'tude on the court and I don't think Self did either...but when he started to fire off some of those difficult shots he was missing earlier and they started going in, Self had no choice but to let it ride.

There's a middle ground in here with the Remysavedourseason'ers ( there seem to be a lot of them on here ) and RemygothotfortheNCAAtournament'ers ( me ).

I’m generally in agreement, especially as to Bill not really liking Remy’s play style (and the sacrifices that came with it).

(I would also continue to note that GM Bill hasn’t helped things lately by not getting (for Coach Bill) guys who can do BOTH Garrett/Harris things, AND Remy things.)

I don’t follow. How has NIL forced Bill into putting way too many eggs into Garrett’s/Harris’ baskets?

Mass Strategies ( and the network that is KU athletics pretending that NIL isn't a pay for a player to come here ) ain't offering the guys you speak of enough for "NIL" opportunities.
Shoulda upped the ante for Keyonte George.

NIL donor opportunities:

"Men's basketball athlete plays a round of golf with your business client"

"That's worth 150k to me. I'll pitch in." - David Booth.

Ok. I mean, I guess? But neither Garrett nor Harris was recruited during the NIL era. So those GMing failures seem more attributable to the F the NCAA thread.

Could we have gotten Keyonte George for this season?
Would he be a mix of Harris/Remy?
