Can Cuffe come back then?
I'm assuming he was forced out.

I thought the same; everything I read said that he didn't want to leave.

Even if a player leaves involuntarily or was forced out, that’s a testament to staff believing he won’t compete, either now or within the next few seasons, in which case, I’m not as worried about it.

It sucks not because I don’t think we got worse ( this season ) but because I like watching players who originally committed here and will likely be here more than a year or two.

i don’t blame Zuby, necessarily

but, the decision screams “me” and not “team”

he coulda been part of what looks to be a title-contending team. instead, he’ll probably end up somewhere where he’ll be forgotten (in the grand scheme), even if he gets a lot of pt and puts up decent numbers
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Somebody is getting a stud. Hes got 3 years to leave an impact on a program, he will be forgotten here, but not elsewhere

It's too bad we won't see Zuby reach his potential here, but good for him. He wasn't going to get any meaningful playing time this year. Between the current state of the roster and potential recruits in 2024-25, the odds frankly weren't great for him starting or being the first big off the bench in year 3 either. Dude is too talented to ride the pine for 3 years, so this makes complete sense.

With two scholarships open, I'm really hoping Self is able to land Mgbako.

I had to look up who he was, couldn't remember either. Oh well, too bad for him.

Believe it or not, most guys with his level of ability aspire to more than sitting on the bench and eventually being a role player for a great CBB team.

Just 3 guys are left from last year's squad.

and sometimes those aspirations are greater than their realized impacts

i wish him the best, and hope he doesn’t regret his decision. maybe i’m wrong, but i highly doubt he makes headlines wherever he ends up

Totally fair—it's not a given that he's going to go become a superstar somewhere else. But in his position, you have to give it a shot.

You almost need guys who won't compete...not exactly, but kinda...you can't have 12 or 13 players who all think they deserve to play major minutes.

We've had some guys here who really developed into fine players after 2 or 3 years. I guess those days are over. The portal gives them the ability to go somewhere that has a hole at their position and play right away.

The times , they are a-changin.

How long before the trades start happening in college sports?

They already are in a roundabout way. They should at least limit the number of times a player could transfer.
