Why would you even suggest such a thing?

Prosecutors in Jan. 6 Case Step up Inquiry Into Trump Fund-Raising
The Justice Department has been gathering evidence about whether the former president and his allies solicited donations with claims of election fraud they knew to be false.

As they investigate former President Donald J. Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, federal prosecutors have also been drilling down on whether Mr. Trump and a range of political aides knew that he had lost the race but still raised money off claims that they were fighting widespread fraud in the vote results, according to three people familiar with the matter.

Led by the special counsel Jack Smith, prosecutors are trying to determine whether Mr. Trump and his aides violated federal wire fraud statutes as they raised as much as $250 million through a political action committee by saying they needed the money to fight to reverse election fraud even though they had been told repeatedly that there was no evidence to back up those fraud claims...

With Santos being charged this morning, one thing I’m NOT looking forward to is the R howling about the “unprecedented” and “politicized” prosecutions.

A good way to avoid getting charged with crimes, is to not eagerly and brazenly and openly COMMIT CRIMES.

I occurs to me that I have never seen Santos and Batman together. This could all be one big misunderstanding about dozens of federal laws.

The GOP seems to be going towards more of a "truer representation of their constituents" model vs. more of a traditional career politician model so maybe at some point they will reevaluate both what that implies about their voting base that puts these people into office and what the success rate of that movement has been so far. But that would require some self-evaluation, which doesn't seem like a tool that they are using much at all these days.

Until they get prosecuted Republicans are going to push their practice of electing liars, criminals, scumbags and morons (although the latter two are not crimes as far as I know).

By not prosecuting deserving criminals Dems have enabled and normalized criminal behavior.
