I agree Trump likely didn't attract many voters who weren't already members of his cult last night, and more likely turned any independents who haven't already made their minds up, off. Which is not to say I don't think he will be the republican nominee.

But, there's nothing democrats want more than for 2024 to be a choice between Biden and Trump, again, and not a +/- decision about Biden. And if Trump did anything last night, he made it all about himself, and his unending list of past grievances. And, and, and, although past isn't necessarily precedent when it comes to Trump and his cult, it's pretty well-accepted that elections are about the future, not the past.

That being said, I was very disappointed with CNN for hosting an unpatriotic, compulsive liar, sexual predator, and insurrectionist. I hope they pay for it.

I just can't find the anger for CNN that lots of lefties seem to have, over this issue. I really don't think there's a comparison between Summer 2016 and May 2023 - CNN was absolutely as guilty as anyone in mainstreaming Trump in 2016, helping him turn an election he didn't even want to win, into one he won!

But his base is now shrinking, and certainly cannot grow (if it's capable of growing at all) by holding "Greatest Hits" shows on cable news. If anything, his room-temperature performance is going to confirm for anyone paying attention that "Greatest Hits" shows are all he has in him.
