nobody can argue the losing arguement with more professionalism than the fish. it's impressive the conviction he puts into arguing the losing side.

There is not a single active member of this board that doesn't qualify as a nincompoop.

Something we should all be able to agree to

If someone can quit their job instead of doing something they don't want to do, by its nature the thing isn't a mandate (in the way you so desperately want it to be).

But again - for the sake of argument, let's say it was a mandate. Was it challenged as illegal? If so, what result? If not, why not?

And again - for the sake of argument - this was carried out at what level exactly?

You so, SO badly want to paint this picture of centralized government control from on high...but the facts just don't support that narrative.

DEEP STATE!!!
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Right. I'm not saying each and every Covid measure was "right". I just want to have a conversation about real things that actually exist. Not fantasies concocted on 8CHAN.

(I will note, also, that the topic of this particular thread is Big Government Ron. Who absolutely LOVES him some government mandates.)

any time randy starts in with the absolutes, it’s a pretty good indication that he isn’t interested in any sort of reasonable discussion

Yeah. Thats why desantis gained so much popularity so fast. He took a sound logical approach to covid. Instead of catering to the insanity and untested science.

Doesn't mean desantis will take the best approach to every political battle he fights, but he came out as the gold standard as far as us politicians go

I agree that issuing executive orders limiting the size of gatherings in public places like bars, restaurants, nightclubs and even beaches was a reasonable thing to do, particularly early in Covid when we didn't really understand it.

Desantis implemented the same kind of regulations at the beginning. He just backed off and reopened way before everyone else did. All his actions were backed by science, just not backed by fauccis politics. Desantis consulted a pretty impressive panel of experts who didn't have a political agenda at play

Florida has a slightly older population. Retirement state.

So basically the state of Florida had very similar numbers despite taking a totally different approach with significantly more freedom

So basically all the regulations were pointless. Good point

Though Dr. Ladapo has acknowledged that vaccines are highly effective at preventing hospitalization and death, he said in October that “adverse reactions” to vaccines should receive more attention and urged people to “stick with their intuition and their sensibilities.”

Equally troubling for his critics was Dr. Ladapo’s failure to reject more fringe views on virus treatments, including the drugs hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin. He joined Mr. DeSantis in clamoring for the federal government to supply some monoclonal antibody treatments even after they had been deemed ineffective against the Omicron variant, which dominated caseloads.

“To say he’s out of the mainstream would be an understatement,” said Dr. Ashish K. Jha, dean of the Brown University School of Public Health. “His views are not only very unorthodox — they don’t make any sense.”

[...]

“I am very concerned that the state is not getting the best science and the best public health information,” said Dr. J. Glenn Morris Jr., the director of the [University of Florida's] Emerging Pathogens Institute. “There’s not the sense of the development of a public health strategy that goes beyond politics.”

[...]

Other actions by Dr. Ladapo have also baffled public health experts.

He rewrote guidelines during the surge of the Omicron variant to discourage asymptomatic people who were not at high risk from getting tested — though infected people can spread the virus even without symptoms. He argued that testing was most valuable for people who might need treatment.

And he refused to wear a mask when he visited State Senator Tina Polsky, a Democrat, though she had asked him to, citing a serious health condition that she later revealed to be breast cancer. He said he meant no disrespect but did not apologize.

I'll leave it to you fascists to put a positive spin on governors banning books, using tax payer's money to punish corporations that don't agree with them, voter suppression, and being a despicable person.

lol

age accounts for some, but definitely not all

again, quit cherry-picking data…it’s a douche move

infection rates tell the same story as death rates, particularly rates among children

POTD!

P.S. I'm trying to figure out how your creating this thread didn't welcome open discussion.
My hope is decent people will continue to be "incredibly biased" in regards to the shit DeSantis has done, is doing, and wants to do.

i’m not so sure the people who support those policies can, necessarily, be considered decent
