There's a few KU-related recruiting channels on Discord that I look at off-and-on.

I kinda wonder how much we’ll see KJ at the 5 next year.

Especially considering we stand to play Hunter at the 5 a ton.

If Self plans on KJ still at the 5 a lot, and is trying to keep guys like Udeh around on little more than 3rd string minutes, no wonder he bolted.

But, in a “best 5 on the floor” sorta way, that also means we have the 4-spot figured out enough that we don’t have to play KJ like 30+ minutes there

As it stands now. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a starting lineup of..
Dajuan
Morris
Timberlake
KJ
Hunter

But at some point late in the season, when KU needs their best lineup on the floor, it could be something like..
Dajuan
Morris
Elmarko
Timberlake
Hunter

However, if they get another big wing like Kaluma, he would be in that best lineup.

I think KJ is too good to sit.
A junior in Self's system with that athleticism, passing skills and connection with Dajuan?
He's gonna get lots of clock and be on the court when it matters.

0 chance KJ is not one of our best 5 players this year

Right now KJ is our starting 4 and back up 5. Hes going to play a lot no matter who we add. He is that good.

What worries me is him and hunter both getting in foul trouble... and then what?

The offense that happened a bit in 2022 with Dajuan, Remy, CB, Ochai and Jalen.

A 5 out offense with lots of movement.

Well obviously we can still put 5 guys on the floor. But it ain't gonna look pretty. We don't have the right dudes at the moment. Would be a bunch of little guards.

Or Marcus adams and Parker braun lmao

KJ is one of those players that Bill absolutely loves and trusts; unless he's in foul trouble, he's going to play a ton of minutes.

Self’s comments seem to indicate he’s expecting more from the elder Braun than just a practice body

Because he didn't omit his name from the list of incoming transfers? Lol

What about this comment gave you that impression

Youre insane.

If there was a decent post still on the transfer market with interest in KU, self would take him in a heartbeat. The Parker braun commitment did not shore up that position

The way the game is played now, long athletic versatile forwards who can shoot are essential to success, and we don't have a single one on our roster with any experience

Thats why recruiting a long athletic shooter is selfs top priority

We have KJ, who is an absolute stud of a forward, but isn't a shooter, and will probably be asked to play some center again
And we have Marcus adams jr, who fits the prototype, but is an unproven freshman

Self knows that an experienced forward/wing with length and shooting is the hole on this roster. Thats why he's still trying to add one
