Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Meanwhile vivek wants 25 apparently. 25 is scientifically the age when the human brain is fully developed. Seems logical. Would yield better election results and more informed voting.

I doubt it ever changes from 18. If it began to gain any support the dems would be quick to label it "voter suppression"

Yours never developed but do the most basic amount of research and you'll realize the brain continues to develop well past 18. And into the mid to late 20s

25 is the general age science recognizes it being fully developed

https://paradigmtreatment.com/teens-bra ... loped-age/

https://www.npr.org/templates/story/sto ... =141164708

So its a sensible voting age for logical reasons

no, again you’re wrong

there is variance, which is important and notable when choosing something as arbitrary as age for what is being suggested

look beyond headlines and talking points

specifically, look into the work of psychologist Larry Steinberg, or neuroscientist Alexandra Vohen, or psychologist Leah Somerville

There’s a consensus among neuroscientists that brain development continues into the 20s, but there is far from any consensus about any specific age that defines the boundary between adolescence and adulthood. “I honestly don’t know why people picked 25…It’s a nice sounding number? It’s divisible by five?”

a number of neuroscientists agree that we just aren’t there yet, as far as our understanding brain maturity to even know what it really looks like in the ways that it’s being measured (often through imaging rather than testing)

for some, development in the prefrontal cortex might plateau around 25, but that’s absolutely not the case for everyone

Because…it would be. And, surprise surprise, it would be suppressing a subset of voters that are overwhelmingly left-leaning. So of course the pubs love it.

The Rs are FUCKED, demographically, and they know it. So it’s one parlor trick after another.

Anything - ANYTHING - to avoid coming to grips with how fundamentally unpopular R social positions have become.

we're gonna find out in about 17 months who the voters favor. i have a feeling you're not gonna like it.

Maybe I will, maybe I won’t. But things aren’t exactly trending against me. Not unless the Rs somehow find a way to get Trump off the ticket WITHOUT alienating any meaningful number of his supporters.

In no way does that prove me wrong. He agrees the brain continues to develop into your 20s, but its hard to pinpoint an exact universal number. If anything this supports my point. Thanks

If anything voters are extremely unhappy with both parties and the political system itself....

Maybe so. But…the thing is that the Biden administration has done a very good job - minimum grade of B+ - restoring confidence in the basic functioning of government.

And letting the Rs shitshow themselves to death.

When convenient. Otherwise it’s the moving goalposts thing. Voters need to be informed (what’s that mean?). Voters need to be scientifically mature (what’s that mean?). Voters need to be taxpayers (what’s that mean?).

And so on.

Means our country is better off if we have faith that the votes being counted are legal valid votes. And the people placing them actually pay attention to policies and current political affairs

This shouldn't be controversial and it shouldn't favor either side

It should actual yield better results

If one side feels disadvantaged by that, then that is a red flag about whatever is going into them getting their votes
