Re: 2023-2024 lineup
Yep. He did that 2 seasons in a row too. For 2 straight seasons he shot just slightly more 3's and a slightly higher percentage than what we saw from Grady dick last yearpdub wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 9:39 am Last season, Timberlake shot 1 more 3 per game than anyone on our roster.
And he shot a better percentage from 3 than anyone on our roster ( not counting Cam Martin's lone attempt ).
The quality of competition will increase but he also has an offseason and even if it decreases some, it would likely be in the Gradey Dick neighborhood of 39-40% which will work just fine.
Thats big time shooting

You put dajuan in the pick and roll with hunter or kj, and you put timberlake on that side of the floor, and you have a LETHAL offense

Re: 2023-2024 lineup
We now have a really old, experienced starting lineup with a young and energetic bench.

hopefully the portal is closed. so the km returning news does not trigger someone to enter the portal.
Re: 2023-2024 lineup
I still trust that Self is treating his players with respect, even future ones getting the big bucks, so I'm guessing he informed any new guys and all current dudes that he expected McCullar would be back.

rumor is he can't guard a chair.randylahey wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 10:04 amYep. He did that 2 seasons in a row too. if thats true he's not gonna play
Just Ledoux it
Re: 2023-2024 lineup
There were times when Dick couldn't guard a chair and he played plenty. Timberlake will almost always be on the floor with multiple elite defenders. He doesn't need to do that job great; he just needs to be great at shooting and not terrible at defending.TDub wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 10:45 amrumor is he can't guard a chair.randylahey wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 10:04 amYep. Jalen will be off to play overseas, Gradey will be a top 10 draft pick, but for some reason I can see McCullar coming back...I know he did a Senior speech and all that, but I get the weird feeling that there's a decent chance at getting a Super Senior year out of him.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: 2023-2024 lineup
If he's poor on assignments, switches, yea, he'll sit when he makes mistakes.
If he's just slow on defense, and he continues to shoot like he did at Towson, then I think Self lets it go.

Re: 2023-2024 lineup
Has anyone ever returned to play another season AFTER giving a senior night speech? Lol. Seemed stupid of self to let him give one now
Re: 2023-2024 lineup
So we suddenly have 3-4+ year guys who know the system at the 1, 3, and 4.
An AA-caliber big with P5 experience at the 5.
And plenty of options that can work themselves out at the 2. (Or 3, depending on what we call McCullar)
It would be nice to have a for-sure shooter/scorer, but we got options.
My concern with Timberlake and the youngins is how they handle the transition to high major blue blood ball, but I think there’s a lot of good pieces.
Wing has historically been the easiest position in Self’s system to get up to speed, too.
The only thing we could really ask for now (short of some elite wing just cuz) is Udeh, and/or some other battle-tested reserve big.
