Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Do we think Self ends up adding one more PF/C in the portal? Or do they play down two scholarships this year and take care of the penalty by the end of the 2024-25 season?

Adds another big for sure. Someone will withdraw from the draft or something

If the right guy becomes available, they add. But I don't think you add just to have bodies.

Sure you do. Practice bodies are important too. We don't waste scholarships around here. Even if its a guy that likely never sees the rotation. Bring in a transfer who has one year left, or bring in a young guy who will likely get overrecruited and transfer out. Even that last guy will have some talent. Enough to give extra depth and bodies to practice against

Thats kind of what I thought Parker braun would be. An emergency body who won't be leaned on much, but an experienced player who will add to practice, is available if needed. A guys whos been around college awhile and feels like playing a last year at kansas will be a cool experience

Chicagohawk mentioned taking care of penalty schollies. Can we do 2 in 1 year and have it count toward the total?

That interview with Goodman made it sound like he was done, but, I mean, if Grant Nelson is OK with being a backup I'm sure he'd take him, but I just don't see a scenario where someone who was borderline in the draft would be OK being a backup.

I'm really curious if they can take that two scholly hit in one year

I'm not sure the scholly hit really even matters. Its self imposed, not like we were ordered to do this

From what I've read, Nelson is pretty determined to stay in the draft. If he does go back to school, Arkansas has been all over him. His natural position is a 4 so he wouldn't necessarily be a backup here if he can play good enough defense.

Here's the dope on schollies per Joshua Schulman on Fansided Through the Phog:

Because Kansas self-imposed a three-year scholarship limit due to NCAA sanctions, Coach Self must be strategic regarding whether he wants to add another player or not. From 2023-24 to 2025-26, the Jayhawks can only place 36 players on scholarship — an average of 12 each season — instead of 39, or the NCAA Division I maximum of 13 scholarship players per year.

Yep, this is my understanding. 3 total scholarships over 3 year, not 1 per year.
